Deep beneath the silent icecap of Eyjafjallajokull in Iceland, a cataclysmic seismic event was unfolding. On the morning of 21 March 2010, molten magma a thousand feet under the glacier was building up pressure and forcing its way through the fissures in the earth's crust beneath the glacier ice cap.

And photographer John Beatty, on assignment for Rohan, was there to witness it.

We recently donated over a hundred garments; including a selection of jackets, trousers, fleeces, tops and socks to the charity. This was supported by Tim Jaspers' recent trip to Nepal; where he was lucky enough to hand deliver some more garments to the hard working porters in Kathmandu.

John Beatty has been a friend of Rohan for many years. Not only does he take many of the most striking images in our catalogues, he also regularly runs exhibitions and talks at our events. He generally fits in as a very Rohan sort of guy. John's work takes him to some of the remotest areas on the planet - the sort of wild places where Rohan clothing really comes into its own. Northern Ireland's first dedicated Rohan store has just opened in Belfast. It will carry the complete Rohan range and the team are full of enthusiasm for the adventure ahead. Bruce Cairns the new Manager has not only had years of experience in retail but crucially, this forthright and amiable Scot has had the adventure travel bug for just as long. A stand out trip includes Heli Hiking in the Rockies and Bruce assures us it's not just the luxury of the heli drops that matter, rather it's the ability to access places that are not practically accessible by any other method - true wilderness in fact.
