Following on from the success of our Lake District Celebration Weekend in February, we put on a second event, this time based in Dunster, the gateway to Exmoor.
The event took place over the weekend of Friday 10 July to Sunday 12 July in the beautiful grounds of Dunster Castle.
There was a varied and exciting range of events, something for everyone, including guided walks, mountain biking and archery. We also had four fantastic speakers. On the Friday evening John Beatty, widely acclaimed as one of the most exciting nature, travel and adventure photographers, gave a fantastic lecture. Monty Don then shared some of his knowledge and passion with us. On the Saturday evening we had lectures from Leo Dickinson, one of the world’s outstanding outdoor action filmmakers and Alistair MacDonald, award-winning BBC TV reporter and producer. The evening was rounded off nicely with an excellent live performance from the Illegal Eagles. The weekend concluded on the Sunday with an exclusive Rohan heritage steam train ride.
Hundreds of Rohanists attended the weekend, most staying in our camping village, others visiting for the lectures and activities, or to meet other fellow enthusiasts.
The weekend was thoroughly enjoyable and we’ve had some lovely emails and letters from those of you who attended. If you’d like to read more about the weekend and see some of the lovely comments we’ve had, please visit Rohantime, our Rohan community website.
Have a look at the film above for an overview of the weekend. Film by Snowline Productions.
