Our Microgrid Multi is an incredibly versatile piece of headwear designed to be worn in three different ways – depending on the conditions and the level of insulation you need.

It’s made from exactly the same high-specification fleece as our popular Microgrid Zip – it’s a very advanced, high quality polyester which is characterised by a ‘holey’ grid structure.

The grid offers many benefits. First and foremost it traps a lot of air – which makes it incredibly warm. It’s also lighter, more breathable and more packable than you might expect too.

In the coldest conditions, you’ll probably want to wear our Microgrid Multi as a balaclava. It’s got a nice close-fitting shape around the head and features an elasticated, adjustable drawcord around the middle. And it’s this adjustability that makes all the difference. It you want it resting on your chin, you can set it just there – if you want it covering your nose you can set it right there too. And, once you’ve set it, it stays put. Unlike most other balaclavas out there which constantly (and rather annoyingly) slip down all the time.

When it’s not quite so cold, fold the hood in on itself and cinch up the drawcord to make a superbly functional fleece hat. Or un-cinch the drawcord and wear it a neck gaiter.
