Drylocker 60

Rugged 60L waterproof cargo bag for the very toughest trips.

There are quite a lot of ‘expedition’ cargo bags out there – including some pretty decent (and quite expensive) ones. But, surprisingly, very, very few of them are actually waterproof.

We’ve always thought that was a bit strange. If your kit bag is lashed to the top of an estate car driving though Arctic Sweden, strapped onto a skidoo or stored inside an open canoe, it’s going to be highly exposed to the elements. And, over a long journey, water is always going to find its way past the waterproof fabrics and get in through the seams and zips – and your gears going to end up damaged or ruined.

And it’s not just protection from the rain. If you’ve ever spent any time in the desert, you’ll know that the fine, wind-blown dust gets everywhere. Into your clothes, obviously, but also into your camera gear or electronics equipment. It can even find its way into your socks and underwear – and that’s a nightmare no-one wants.

And it all starts with the fabric: we’ve specified our own Hyperbaric™ polyamide. It’s tough, durable, fully waterproof and engineered into shape with mega-strong welded seams. There’s no stitching to come undone – and no exposed seams that need extra sealing.

Access to the main compartment is through a water-resistant zip which is sealed with a fully waterproof roll-top closure – this is fastened with functional, instant action magnetic closures. There’s another flap which goes over the top of this and connects to the side compression straps. It’s a simple, solid, fail-safe system.

At one end, there’s a one-way airlock valve which allows you to expel any excess air and reduce the overall volume of the bag.

There are two decent sized pockets on either side which, although not waterproof, feature water-resistant zips. They’re a good place to store small items that you’re going to need quick access to.

There are several carrying options: the padded, adjustable handles double as shoulder straps, allowing you to carry the bag like a rucksack over longer distances. There’s also a really durable handle at either end so you can pick the bag up like a chest and throw it on a roof rack – or share the load with a companion.
