Perfect for trekking and winter travel but equally useful as an everyday winter coat, our Icepack Jacket provides functional, compressible insulation and understated good looks.
Offering an impressive warmth-to-weight ratio in conjunction with a versatile design, our Icepack Jacket is an indispensable layering piece that’s perfect for cold-weather trekking, travel and everyday use.
It’s filled with Insuloft™, our superbly efficient synthetic insulation. Pound for pound, it’s almost as effective as natural down. Unlike natural down, however, it doesn’t lose its warmth the minute it gets wet, so it’s absolutely perfect for the damp, cold conditions that are the hallmarks of the British winter. We’ve gone for an 80gsm weight in the body and a 60gsm weight in the sleeves to boost warmth where you need it most.
It’s also extremely easy to wash and dries very quickly – it certainly doesn’t require any sort of special treatment, protection or extra care – which is very reassuring if you’re on an extended trekking trip.
The outer is a lightweight, water repellent face fabric with a matte, cotton-like texture. It’s wind resistant, extremely soft and, because it’s been treated with our Durable Water Repellency™ finish, it’ll shrug off light snow and rain showers.
The jacket features two zipped hand pockets, a zipped outer chest pocket, and an internal zipped pocket which doubles up as a Packpocket™ into which the whole jacket packs for convenient stowage.
The cuffs are bound with a water repellent stretch polyester to seal in the warmth, and a drawcord-adjustable hem helps you to fine-tune the fit. It also features a chunky water resistant zip which has been specially designed to eliminate zip jams.
92% polyamide, 8% elastane outer, 100% polyamide lining with Insuloft™ 100% polyester filling.
Pocket science at Rohan is all about precision and detail of design, but most of all, it’s about keeping your most important stuff safe at times when losing keys, passports and wallet is more than just an inconvenience. We use several different methods – whichever is the most appropriate. Some pockets are completely hidden with micro zips, some are touch and close with roll-over tops and some are high quality zips.
Good design is more often about what to take off than what to put on. And clever design is about giving one feature two functions, that’s why many Rohan garments feature an internal mesh stretch pocket that doubles as a Packpocket™ for easy storage.
We use man-made technical insulation that offers high levels of thermal efficiency, quick dry times and minimum bulk. We also use the finest goose down for the coldest environments. All materials for cold weather, that carry the warmth icon, are rated Base, Mid, High or Extreme allowing you to select what you need with accuracy.
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.

Just purchased, but so far I like it. The matt material, design and fit means it can be worn as a casual jacket, without the appearance of a technical layer. I'll also be using it with my dry delta when rain arrives.
I have previous versions of this jacket that I find to be light, hard wearing and very useful both as a individual jacket and also as a zip in liner to my Hilltop Jacket.
I am deducting one star in this review as in this version of the Ice Pack Jacket Rohan have removed the facility to enable it to be zipped into another garment, such as the Hilltop Jacket.
In my view a very disappointing omission by Rohan.
I have three of them so I must like them! However the current version which has tighter cuffs and a cheap looking logo stamped on the jacket is nowhere as good as the original versions which had adjustable cuffs (on Velcro) and a neat Rohan logo stitched into the coat which looks much neater. Overall its a great jacket but the "improvements" in the newer version were in my view a regression.
There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing. Rohan is your constant companion for every journey, whatever the journey.
