Selected from over a hundred entries from film-makers around the globe, Wilderland is back for its second year touring the very best of the world’s short wildlife films.
These groundbreaking films will offer audiences unparalleled insight into some of the world’s most incredible wildlife. A must-see for lovers of wildlife, film, travel, conservation and adventure.
Rohan is delighted, once again, to support Wilderland Film Festival founder and zoologist filmmaker Daniel O’Neill with specialist outdoor clothing on his filming expeditions, as well as spreading the news of the festival’s return to theatres around the UK and Ireland this year. The film festival tour will conclude in Northallerton on 3 May 2020 – tickets are available from wilderlandfestival.com. This is a must-see for lovers of wildlife, film, travel, conservation and adventure, with some of the most celebrated wildlife filmmakers recruited to judge the new film entries.
Dan O’Neill said: “Following the incredible response from the 2019 Wilderland tour, we are thrilled to bring a whole new set of awe-inspiring wildlife and conservation films to the UK in 2020! It’s a privilege to be able to showcase these films through the voices of the most talented independent filmmakers from across the world.”
Filmmaker Dan O’Neill wears Merino Cool T and Lowland Trousers.
Dan O’Neill and Isaac Rice said: "Wilderland is a platform for the new era of independent wildlife filmmakers. It will inspire everyone to think more about the natural world in our daily lives. Wilderland's ethos is that anyone can be a conservationist, and everyone has a part to play in the future of our planet.”
Doug Allan, panel member and cameraman says: "Anyone with a fascination for the natural world and conservation should make sure they book their ticket to Wilderland. It’s inspirational.”
Steve Backshall, BAFTA-winning English naturalist, writer and TV presenter says: "It’s so exciting to see these breathtaking films on the big screen for the first time.”
Gordon Buchanan, wildlife TV presenter and cameraman adds, “Wilderland is special because it gives audiences unparalleled insight into some of the world’s most incredible wildlife.”
Audiences will also have the opportunity to support the effort to save some of our planet's most endangered species. At each show, the audience will be invited to vote for one of five endangered species identified by the Wilderland team. Votes will be counted each night and, at the end of the tour, the Wilderland team will embark on a journey to make a film about the most voted-for species, raising awareness of its plight and encouraging support for grassroots charities working to help them. The resulting film will be premiered at the next Wilderland Film Festival and funded by a percentage of profits from the festival.
