We’re so excited to tell you about our new partnership with the Youth Adventure Trust, a youth development charity who share our passion for the great outdoors.
For the past 30 years, the Youth Adventure Trust (YAT) has been using the power of the outdoors to ensure vulnerable young people build resilience, develop confidence and learn valuable life skills. Their life-changing Youth Adventure Programme helps 11-16 year olds unlock their potential through the challenge of outdoor adventure.
Supporting up to 360 young people each year, the Youth Adventure Programme includes three residential camps and eight activity days over three school years. There are no financial barriers, as the programme is entirely free to all the young people, their families and the organisations who nominate them to take part.
That’s where our partnership comes in – there are up to 40 young people on each programme and it costs £3,600 per place. We’re committed to raising funds to help cover these costs. Our fundraising for the YAT started last year, when four of our Directors formed Team Rohan to take part in the Hike Bike Paddle challenge. Since then, we’ve loved learning more about the fantastic work that the YAT carry out all year round, and we can’t wait to find more ways to support them through this partnership.
The challenges faced by the young people supported by the YAT are wide ranging, and include bullying, social isolation, unstable home lives and living in poverty. On the Youth Adventure Programme participants are supported by a dedicated Programme Manager to learn to believe in themselves, exceed their own expectations and achieve their full potential. The programme is designed to give them the hope, confidence and skills to best manage the issues they are facing and make the most of their future lives.
We’re proud to be supporting the Youth Adventure Trust, and we’re looking forward to sharing more about this partnership very soon. Watch this space, and check out more information about the YAT and the incredible work they’re doing on their website.
