One of Gift Your Gear's grateful beneficiaries is Stratford upon Avon - Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA). The RDA is one of 500 member groups of Riding for the Disabled Association and aims to provide riding opportunities to children and adults with disabilities in the local area. For over 40 years, the group has been organising activities such as riding, carriage driving, vaulting, and show jumping for over 28,000 people each year. The RDA has more than 18,000 dedicated volunteers who each year give a total of more than 3.5 million hours of their time every year.
Samantha, owner of Rohan Stratford upon Avon and Craig, Deputy Manager spent an afternoon with the group, learning about the RDA and handing over some Gift Your Gear donations.
"The riders love being out on the horses in all weathers but they are often cold and wet, and take a long time to warm up again, so to now be able to keep dry and warm means a great deal to them and their riding experience"Donna Jenkins, the Group Organiser
The RDA relies on voluntary help and generous donations from its supporters to allow them to keep delivering their services. The group sees 24 riders visit the stables at Home Farm, Compton Verney each week and aims to continue to provide opportunities for therapy, achievement and enjoyment, improving health, wellbeing and self-confidence, and benefiting mobility and co-ordination for members.
