10-12 Thornton's Arcade
The Arcades, one of which is Thornton’s, features stunning walkways and art-nouveau shop fronts to admire as you stroll around. Once you’ve had a look around, and visited Rohan Leeds (!), take a look at Brewtown tours which offers novices and connoisseurs alike the chance to sip an array of top-notch, just-brewed beers.
For cinema fans, head to Hyde Park Picture House, an independent vintage cinema showing a programme of arthouse, indie and foreign films. Just out of town is the 900-year-old Kirkstall Abbey and its adjoining museum, allowing guests to wander through the ruins of a Cistercian monastery. In the summer months it’s transformed into an alfresco cinema!
Art is in the DNA of Leeds. Take a trip to Leeds Art Gallery and The Henry Moore Institute which showcase work from around the world. Leeds Art Gallery has the best twentieth century collection outside London and The Henry Moore celebrates sculpture, hosting a changing programme of historical, modern and contemporary exhibitions.
