Offering a highly-functional and extremely comfortable alternative to everyday cotton trunks our Merino Union 150 Trunks are perfect for travel, outdoors and every day.
Probably the most comfortable trunks you’ll ever own.
Made from a blend of soft merino and technical polyester, our Merino Union 150 Trunks combine the quick-drying nature of a synthetic, and merino wool’s natural anti-bacterial properties.
Merino wool has an uncanny ability to regulate your temperature in a wide range of conditions. It’s nice and cosy in the cold but never too hot when the temperature, or your activity level, start to rise. It ‘wicks’ moisture extremely efficiently and, because wool is the only fibre in the world that can absorb vapour, it delays the onset of sweating - keeping you far more comfortable and eliminating that unpleasant chilling feeling you sometimes get when you take a break or slow down.
Our Merino Union 150 Trunks are incredibly soft and comfortable next to the skin - there’s none of the unpleasant itching you get with ordinary wool or poor quality merino. The fabric blend also has another remarkable benefit which makes it particularly suitable for wearing next to the skin. Wool has an amazing resistance to the build-up of odour. You can wear it for days without feeling the need to freshen it up. On a long trip, where washing facilities are limited, it’s a real boon. And when the time finally does come for a bit of ‘squad rotation’ you’ll find it’s simplicity itself to wash. Just throw it in the machine or rinse it through with travel wash. And, because of the quick drying nature of synthetics, just hang them out to dry and they’ll be ready to go again the next day.
Our Merino Union 150 Trunks are designed in a classic style with a keyhole fly and comfy, flat-locked seams.
63% Merino Wool, 37% Polyester.
Building stretch into our fabrics offers some big advantages. It allows us to make very comfortable, streamlined clothing. And a close fit has big advantages for active people. Clothes don’t flap in the wind, they work well in a layering system without bulking up and because there is less fabric, they are lighter, dry quicker and pack smaller – all critical Rohan virtues.
We use man-made technical insulation that offers high levels of thermal efficiency, quick dry times and minimum bulk. We also use the finest goose down for the coldest environments. All materials for cold weather, that carry the warmth icon, are rated Base, Mid, High or Extreme allowing you to select what you need with accuracy.
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.

Recently, I have been bothered by the volume of my luggage and I decided to only pack 3 pairs of merino trunks instead of 10 pairs of cotton trunks for a 10-day trip. The theory was that the advertised "odor control" property of merino wool would permit the item to be worn for several days without offending anybody. This worked perfectly and I would consider applying the same volume-reducing logic to the upper body if Rohan would market a light-coloured merino wool top.
There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing. Rohan is your constant companion for every journey, whatever the journey.
