Made from super-soft, technical grid fabric designed to trap warm air, this stretchy and highly comfortable fleece top is perfect as part of a layering system to provide unrivalled protection from extreme weather.
Read more…Using a blend of polyester and elastane, and with a clever grid design on the interior that traps warmth within the brushed-back fibres, the Latitude Zip Neck Top offers great freedom of movement and protection from the cold.
Its primary use is as a mid-layer, working in conjunction with a waterproof jacket or overhead to provide plenty of warmth and protection from the wind and rain. However this versatile piece would also work fantastically with a base layer on dry days.
As well as providing ample stretch, the technical fabric is also high-wicking ensuring you stay dry no matter how active you get, and with the high collar providing wind protection and the thumbholes providing greater coverage and warmth, the Latitude Zip Neck Top is an optimal cold-weather, active wear, mid-layer piece.
Unlike most fleeces, the Latitude Zip Neck Top has the soft brushed back fabric on the interior against the skin making it incredibly soft and comfortable to wear, but thanks to the grid pattern it’s still very breathable and lightweight.
There are two easy access secure hand pockets, and a half zip neck which allows some welcome fresh air if you get a bit warm when you’re out and about. The raglan sleeve design also provides great freedom of movement so if you find yourself scrambling over rocks you won’t be held back by your top.
As always with Rohan, the Latitude Zip Neck Top is very easy to care for and will be fine on a quick spin in the washing machine or equally washed by hand, and will dry comfortably overnight – the perfect choice for multi-day hiking trips.
Fabric:
91% polyester, 9% elastane
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.

I’ve been using this with a wicking base layer for a brisk daily uphill hike. Works very well and opening both front pockets gives extra ventilation if needed. Seems slightly less breathable than a Rab fleece I use on the same route but that’s probably because the Rohan is slightly heavier. That’s the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars.
Bought this mid-layer fleece in the sales and could not be happier with it- only arrived today and went out for 12 mile hike - had on merino blend base layer, this 'Latitude' mid-layer and my new 'Stratus' jacket (also bought in the sales) - completely warm and comfy despite a pretty stiff breeze.

One of the best Rohan tops I've had. Wearing with a (long-sleeved) T shirt it forms a very good layered base for the colder weather. Pockets and zip to collar just right (for me!)
Now saving up for the other colour...
I wore my latitude zip top for the first time yesterday and found it to be very comfortable and kept me warm. I can see it will become my “ go to” mid layer in more challenging conditions.
