We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.

I have been a life long customer of Rohan’s from your beginnings at your first shop at Long Preston. However the above jacket is advertised with a adjustable hem the one I have has not basic mistake therefore I cannot give it a better score ie sale of goods act
I was - and still am - a big fan of the predecessor Fellside Jacket. The Moorland Jacket is a subtle evolution of that. It feels softer and a little less stiff, and crucially the cut around the shoulders is more generous, the result being that it doesn't tend to ride up. So far I've used it as a lightweight top over a t-shirt when marching out to my local birding sites and then, depending on the weather, popped a shell on over the top or changed t-shirt and jacket for a long-sleeved shirt and warmer top. It's great strength is that you don't really know you're wearing it, but it keeps you nice and warm all the same. In less good weather I'll still use my Fellside Jacket as it does feel a bit tougher, and the smaller pockets are actually better at holding a mobile phone and field notebook. So although rather similar, the new jacket does a slightly different job, but very well indeed.
