Offering great levels of core warmth and excellent freedom of movement in a compact and super lightweight package – the Fuse Vest is ideal for taking on multi-day hikes or a full day of trekking.
Read more…With a tough polyamide outer, 40g of Insuloft™ wadding and a Durable Water Repellency™ finish – the Fuse Vest is a lightweight and compact insulated layering piece for changeable conditions.
We’ve included Insuloft™ wadding on the front and back to offer core warmth – ideal when used as a mid-layer under a shell. We’ve then used super stretchy panelling along the side of the body for an ergonomic fit. Not only does this add a nice contrasting element, but most importantly it provides an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio and unimpeded freedom of movement in a lighter weight insulated vest.
The polyamide and Durable Water Repellency™ outer adds an excellent level of protection from showers and gives it a hard-wearing finish, meaning you can wear it over a T-shirt in the summer months and still be protected from light rain if the weather changes suddenly.
We’ve scrutinised every detail of the Fuse Vest to provide the lightest weight and smallest pack size possible. To do this we’ve sourced a zipper that is 20% lighter than our usual zips for the front opening and hand pockets. We’ve also included a handy Packpocket™ in one of the two pockets, so you can store your vest away in the bottom of your bag ready for when you need it.
As usual with Rohan, the Fuse Vest is really easy to care for and will easily wash in the machine or by hand and dry with barely any creases in just a few hours.
Fabric:
Outer: 100% polyamide with Durable Water Repellency™; Contrast: 81% polyester, 19% elastane; Filling: Insuloft™ 100% polyester
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
Insuloft™ is an advanced synthetic wadding that offers a better warmth-to-weight ratio than polyester fleece and better performance when wet than conventional down. It’s durable, compressible, lightweight, easy to wash and fast drying – it’s the perfect choice for cold-weather protection.
Our DWR ™ finish is an advanced treatment which dramatically increases the water repellency of our fabrics. On its own, it offers a useful level of shower resistance; used in conjunction with our Barricade™ technology, it reduces the tendency of the face fabric to wet out and maximizes breathability.
Clever design is more often than not about what to take off rather than what to put on. It’s about giving one feature multiple functions. That’s why many of our garments feature a Packpocket™. This handy addition converts pockets into space-saving storage by compressing the garment into itself. You could use it as a travel pillow when it’s all packed down too.

Well I knew it was going to be thin/ lightweight, but this still surprised me. I can only agree with the other reviews, this is excellent. So thin, light and unobtrusive but really does keep you warm when used as a layer. I can see it being a daily wear in the spring over a shirt/t shirt when weather comes out of winter. Great fit, and of course great quality. A great addition to my extensive rohan collection. I’m sure there must be a condition called ‘obsessive rohan purchase disorder’! 😃
Bought it rather doubtfully because it seemed a bit thin! However I really like it. I wear it round the office & home to take the chill off. I also take it on walks & rides to add a bit of extra warmth or as an emergency layer - its very "packable". It washes well and has kept its looks. If I lost it, I would replace it .
My initial reaction on opening the delivery was that there must have been a mistake: the garment seemed rather thinner than'd I'd expected.
It didn't take me long, though, to discover that therein lies its strength. The Fuse may be lightweight but it outperforms many more substantial gilets, and has already proven itself over and over again: over a shirt or tee shirt on early mornings or coolish evenings, or as an unobtrusive warming layer under almost anything - even under another gilet to bolster its performance when the temperature really drops (it may be summer, but I'm on the North East coast of Scotland...).
It's not going too make you warm if you're already cold, but it's fantastic at keeping in the heat - I had mine in my daypack a couple of weeks ago up on a Munro and over just a vest I was still comfortably warm as we climbed higher until we were clouded over close to the peak and I needed a light waterproof too.
As is to be expected of any Rohan clothing, it washes well and dries easily, not to mention packing down small enough to fit in almost anywhere. It has immediately established itself as an essential bit of kit for keeping me unobtrusively cosy: as headlined above, a core item in both senses!
Highly recommended: pricey, maybe, but invaluable.
I purchased this item when it was in the sale and it has surpassed my expectations & goes everywhere with me now. Worn it over a t shirt on lightly chilly days and worn with a base layer under a waterproof on horrible blustery days I have never felt cold nor have I got to the stage of overheating or stuffiness. The vest is extremely lightweight and can be 'stuffed' anywhere there is a bit of space, it fits into a side pocket of my rucksack comfortably and even gets stuffed into the handlebar bag if I'm cycling somewhere where we may hang around for a bit when we get there. Knowing what I know now I would pay the full price for such an invaluable bit of kit.
