Read more…Our Freelance Shirt looks and feels just like high-quality cotton, but hidden behind its exterior is a clever blend of technical, quick-drying fibres and super tough polyamide which means its performance is in a different class.
Compared to cotton, it’s far more durable. It’s also very easy to care for – just chuck it in the washing machine and hang it out to dry. It’ll comfortably dry overnight with the lightest touch from a travel iron guaranteeing a smart appearance all day – even in the hands of the most amateur of ironers.
It’s full of clever design too: it packs down small, wicks moisture, offers UPF 40+ Sun Protection* - not absolutely essential in the UK but very important if your business takes you to hot or tropical countries, and anti-odour control technology to help you stay fresher for longer.
This smart fitting shirt also features a chest pocket - perfect for keeping travel tickets safe.
*A Note on Sun Protection
All Rohan garments carrying our sun protection icon have been tested in accordance with recognised international standards for ultraviolet radiation protection. Garments which meet the required standard are awarded a rating of UPF 40+. Protection may be significantly reduced with extended wear or if the garment is stretched or wet. Any associated UV risks will vary according to individual skin type or medical history.

Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
Fast Drying - Drying Time: 2 hours
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
ANTI ODOUR SILVER
Garments treated with our Anti Odour Silver technology benefit from the natural antimicrobial properties of silver. Tiny traces of silver, distributed evenly throughout the garment, inhibit the growth of bacteria reducing mould and odour. This treatment is permanent – it will never wash or wear out.
DYNAMIC MOISTURE CONTROL™
DMC™ is a wicking treatment that rapidly spreads the moisture our bodies create across the surface area of a garment. This can be achieved through the technical construction of the garment or by a performance coating and ensures that the garment dries more quickly, encourages evaporative heat loss and helps you stay cooler and more comfortable for longer.
SUN PROTECTION UPF 40+
This garment has been tested in accordance with recognized international standards for ultraviolet radiation protection – and has been awarded a rating of UPF 40+. The protection offered may be significantly reduced with extended wear or if the garment is stretched or wet. Any associated UV risks will vary according to individual skin type or medical history.

Men's Freelance Shirt is rather good
I got Pacific Blue one as an Xmas pressy and its rather good as a smart shirt - and the added bonus is that it is not checked. Looks great under the Icepack Vest I also got given. I can envisage it being used all year round as advertised.
I looked at possibly buying the Light Grey version but think the £70 price tag is too steep for what would be an indulgence!
The Shirt of Choice for India
I've just used the shirt, during a two week visit to India. On several occasions I visited War Cemeteries, taking part in formal commemorations. The shirt was very light, cool and comfortable. Very packable, easy to press, and very smart. Top piece of kit.
