Regular trousers – that happen to be waterproof.
Read more…Our Dry Requisite Trousers look and feel like a regular pair of chino-style trousers. Relaxed, casual and classically styled, they’ll look the part in the pub; they’ll toe the line at work and they’ll cut the mustard on the golf course.
But, as you’d expect from Rohan, they’re packed with the sort of advanced fabric technology that you normally only find in technical trekking trousers.
It all starts with the waterproof, windproof and breathable Barricade™ lining. It’s light, soft, flexible and offers amazing breathability and comfort in a wide range of temperatures. The outer is a tough, textured polyamide with our Durable Water Repellency™ finish. It offers exactly the sort of performance you’d expect from our trekking trousers – it’s hardwearing, high wicking and incredibly quick drying.
Washing the trousers is simple – just throw them in the machine and hang them out. They’ll dry overnight – and they’ll still be waterproof. They require absolutely no special care whatsoever.
In terms of design, we’ve kept it classic. Our Dry Requisites are designed to blend in – not stand out. They feature two hand pockets and two zipped rear pockets. One of the hand pockets includes an internal, zipped security pocket; the other has a small accessory loop designed to secure your car keys or a penknife.
A Note on Pockets
The two front hand pockets of our Dry Requisites are lined with our Barricade™ waterproof material. This doesn’t mean, however, that the pockets are waterproof – there’s obviously two big holes where your hands go in! The zipped rear pockets have a small protective flap which offers a bit more protection – the zipped closure, however, isn’t waterproof. So, it’s not a good idea to store anything in the pockets, like a mobile phone or your winning lottery ticket, on a wet day. There’s a certain amount of protection – but the contents are definitely not going to stay dry all day long. The waterproof pocket liners on the hand pockets do mean, though, that any water coming in via the pockets isn’t going to get through to the tops of your legs – which is obviously the most important thing.
Washing Instructions
Caring for your Rohan Barricade™ waterproof will improve its performance and longevity. Simply machine wash your item at 30C with a gentle non-biological, liquid detergent. We recommend a second rinse to remove all traces of detergent from the fabric. Don’t use fabric conditioners, dryer sheets, stain removers or bleaching agents as these can impair the fabric performance. Garments may be drip dried. To rejuvenate the finish tumble dry your waterproof on the coolest setting, ensuring it is fully dry to complete the process.
Your Barricade™ waterproof has a Durable Water Repellency finish on the surface of the fabric. Over time, with wear and exposure to the environment, this can degrade, stopping water beading up on the surface of the jacket. Cleaning your waterproof will help maintain the finish. If necessary a re-proofing product may be used to restore the DWR. This can be used in your wash cycle and is activated by a cool tumble dry.

We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
Barricade™ is a waterproof, windproof and breathable technology that has been tested and measured to achieve a minimum initial Hydrostatic Head measure of 20,000mm and an initial Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate measure of 20,000 g/m2/24 hrs. With our Dry liner construction method, the PU hydrophilic membrane is laminated to an inner liner. A loose outer made from a water-repellent synthetic fabric protects the membrane from the outside.
Our DWR ™ finish is an advanced treatment which dramatically increases the water repellency of our fabrics. On its own, it offers a useful level of shower resistance; used in conjunction with our Barricade™ technology, it reduces the tendency of the face fabric to wet out and maximizes breathability.
Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.

Comfortable waterproof trousers which don't look like waterproof trousers.
They look and feel like regular walking/hiking trousers, which they are, yet they are 100% waterproof. They are really comfortable. They’re my go to trousers whenever it’s dry & cold, or cold & raining. Probably their biggest asset is you put these on at home & if it rains whilst out, your already covered, there’s no messing about struggling to pull on waterproofs over your boots, always an awkward manoeuvre!
I’ve had mine about 6 years or so & they are as new, they may be expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for.
100% recommended 👍
I live 1000ft above sea level in the North Pennines, and spend my days on the high fells. These trousers are superb, durable, waterproof , warm and stylish enough for the pub afterwards.
I have 5 pairs not sure when I bought the first whenever Rohan started selling them, all are still going strong.
One thing for sure, they will last longer than me.
Thanks
I'm warm and dry on a very wet morning, Particularly impressed by the jacket run-off area (front of legs) which usually is the first bit to soak through.
I bought these trousers mainly for golf and expected to use them occasionally for hill walks. They are excellent for golf when it might rain and it might not, or it rains for a few holes and more than that they are neat and look good. However, I was very surprised when I used them on a 20km, 7 hour hill walk when it rained for 6 hours in a strong winds, cloud and cold. They kept me dry, without the need to pull on over-trousers. They are very effective. That being said they are very good but not ideal for hill walking because they don’t have the necessary pockets.
I’d rate them as 3 seasons but there are better Rohan trousers for winter hill walking.
I find them waterproof, warm and surprising good at retaining a smart look.
Although these trousers keep your undergarments dry in wet weather the trousers on the outside become saturated and uncomfortable to continue wearing should you want to go to a pub etc. They also take an age to dry completely, 2 to 3 days in normal conditions is not an exaggeration. They are however comfortable and warm, probably not suitable for summer use.
Good fit, smart with a nice feel and comfortable. Not yet tested how waterproof they are, showerproof yes. Pleased with purchase.
I have worn these trousers on two days recently when the rain has been extremely heavy and prolonged. They have kept me totally dry and made it a pleasure to be out in such testing conditions. Worn for both work and pleasure they fit into both environments. Can be a little bit hot if worn in warmer temperatures
I bought these to withstand heavier rain then my SprayWay water resistant trousers. I have had them about a year and they are fine in wind and misty rain but no protection at all on there first exposure to to heavy rain, which is disappointing. Having got thoroughly wet through to my legs and lining it took 24 hours to get them dry again. Fit and comfort are good, they are heavy - fine all year in Scotland but not for warmer climes.
Excellent trousers for cool or cold wet weather (but too heavy for summer). Hard wearing over several years, they remain comfortable and keep out driving rain on an all-day hillwalk; enough said.
More than happy with these trousers the fit and comfort are perfect and have been well and truly tested.
