A blend of natural cotton and technical Coolmax® polyester, Jeans are a fast-drying, lightweight, comfortable and practical alternative to regular denim jeans.Read more…
No one’s 100% sure who invented jeans. But one thing’s for certain. They never set out to make anything ‘cool’.
They were made out of tent fabric and designed to do one thing: work.
Over the years, though, they’ve become rather popular. And, as it happens, they’ve turned out to be kind of cool too. Worn by just about everyone, they look great – pretty much anywhere.
When Rohan set out to make jeans, we knew we had to make them better. The question was: how do you improve the ‘unimprovable’?
The answer, though, was fairly simple: innovative fabric technology.
Regular denim jeans look great. But they’re heavy, uncomfortable, too hot for travel and take an age to dry after washing. Rohan Jeans, by contrast, are made from Denim Plus™, a sophisticated fusion of cotton and advanced modern synthetics.
The results are remarkable. Because around a third of the fabric is CoolMax® polyester, they’re much faster drying than regular jeans – in practical terms, they dry overnight. So you can travel with only one pair. Which is quite an advantage.
They also offer a very good (UPF40+)* level of protection from the harmful effects of UV radiation.
And, unless you’re an absolute stickler, they don’t really require any ironing – although you’ll find the lightest, briefest touch from a warm iron will create an effortlessly smart appearance.
Designed to sit just below the natural waist, our jeans our designed in a classic style – with a couple of practical Rohan twists.
They feature plenty of pockets - two hand pockets, one of which has a zipped pocket hidden inside, a coin pocket, two rear patch pockets, and a discrete zipped pocket in the rear yoke.
*A Note on Sun Protection
All Rohan garments carrying our sun protection icon have been tested in accordance with recognised international standards for ultraviolet radiation protection. Garments which meet the required standard are awarded a rating of UPF 40+. Protection may be significantly reduced with extended wear or if the garment is stretched or wet. Any associated UV risks will vary according to individual skin type or medical history.
Denim Plus™ (66% cotton, 34% Coolmax® polyester).
Pack Size: 2,100ml
Drying Time: 10 hours
We pioneered the testing of fabric for UV penetration in the UK over fifteen years ago. The health risks are now, of course, more widely recognised. All Rohan fabrics for hot weather, that carry the sun icon, are tested for their Ultraviolet Protection Factor and rated UPF 40+.
Pocket science at Rohan is all about precision and detail of design, but most of all, it’s about keeping your most important stuff safe at times when losing keys, passports and wallet is more than just an inconvenience. We use several different methods – whichever is the most appropriate. Some pockets are completely hidden with micro zips, some are touch and close with roll-over tops and some are high quality zips.
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.

These jeans are so comfortable to wear. The material is really soft and the jeans are very light- a massive plus when travelling. Purchased on Rohan's recent jeans offer, it made these really good value. A real pleasure to wear, I wished that I had bought a pair many years ago
These are the best travel jeans that I have ever bought. They used to be available in unfinished length which meant they were ideal for men over six foot tall. The 33 inch long leg is too short for tall fellas. Please bring back the unfinished leg length option .
A mix of cotton and polyester, the amazing material of the Jeans Classic is what makes them different from most other jeans. They are very light (at just over 500g in weight) and feel very cool and comfortable even in hot and humid conditions. I recently wore these jeans for city sightseeing and hiking in Java and Bali and they did not pose the usual problem of “normal” jeans of being too hot and bothersome in the heat.
Although these jeans take about eight hours to dry after washing, they do dry quite quickly if you are caught in a rain shower – this is not the case with “normal” jeans which can remain wet for hours. And they do not require any ironing after washing, making them very useful for most travelling activities.
There are many storage options, with two hand pockets (one contains a zipped security pocket), a coin pocket and two large pockets at the rear. It is easy to store basic items such as a wallet and phone in these storage places.
The Classics are very different from one of Rohan’s other jeans options – the Newtown Jeans. The material of the Classics is much thinner and lighter and the fit is much more generous – having tried on the Newtowns I would describe them as very slim fitting – far too tight in all places for me!! The Classics are a more regular fit – very comfortable to wear even when doing adventurous activities such as hiking.
I bought my first pair many years ago and they are still in fantastic condition – I have found them to be very tough and durable. I recently bought another pair in the Mid Denim colour – they are also available in Dark Denim. It could be an idea to have them in a lighter colour such as cream or light grey – they would look great in tropical countries such as Indonesia where I live.
A long time wearer of all things Rohan I have always found the garments to be 'very' long lasting with one pair of trousers lasting over 30 years. Based on this I was keen to purchase the technical jeans. I purchased a pair in 2014 and so impressed with them I purchase another pair within 2 days of the order arriving. However, while the jeans perform well and were really comfortable to wear they wore out very quickly, with them becoming visibly lighter with each wash. Then one of the fabrics in the weave appeared to fail and they wore through. This would not be a problem but they are quite expensive, which with normal Rohan garments still mean price per wear is very low, not so with these jeans. With my original two pair of jeans dead within 18 months I reluctantly purchased another pair. For some reason, these did not fit as well and even though I purchased the same size, they were far too long and needed to be taken up. I had not grown so they must have been made in another factor to another scale.
I am now contemplating buying another pair as they are very comfortable but just don't last very long in use.
A great pair of jeans - I am now onto my 7th or 8th pair - the first had the "R" logo on the back pocket. They are very comfortable and good in warmer & humid climates. As other reviewers have said, they do wear out quite quickly - current pair have hole it the rear pocket after 15 or so months of near daily use. I agree with Simon Welch's comment - do them in the same weight fabric as the Newton (I have a pair on now but prefer the wider legs and higher waistline of the Classic) and I'll be an even happier customer
Bought these jeans for my son. Lovely fit, wash well however disappointed that after 7 months the one knee has worn through.
Finding it difficult to rate as our son really likes wearing them and finds them comfortable but due to the price I have down rated them. We buy Rohan because they are quality and they last.
Almost the perfect jeans (I have four pairs now). However, having also tried the ‘Newtown Jeans’ it appears to me that the ‘Classic Jeans’ (with a more comfortable fit for those of us who are not young and skinny) would be absolutely perfect in the slightly heavier weight of denim which is used for the ‘Newtown’ version.
I have worn Levi’s for years but these are much better, being lightweight, stretchable, quick drying and extremely comfortable. I now have two pairs. Not cheap, but worth it.
These are really comfortable, good-looking jeans. Much thinner fabric than normal denim with a bit of stretch.
The only reason I haven't given them five stars is that things in the pockets - phones, money etc - quickly cause the colour to fade over the area.
I will be buying more though.
