The Nordic Jeans are an industry first – a no-lining pair of winter jeans with infrared technology that that will keep you warmer for longer. That means no added bulk and no increased weight thanks to the THERMOLITE® PRO technology.
Read more…Using innovative infrared technology, Rohan have been able to create a ground breaking pair of cold-weather jeans that have reduced bulk and weight compared to traditional lined winter jeans. Now you can travel further to the coldest countries without breaking the luggage limit.
The THERMOLITE® PRO* technology uses special ceramic pigments in the fibre of the yarn which transfers energy from infrared rays of the sun into heat which then warms the body. The warmth is then collected within the hollow-core yarn, trapping heat and creating a thermal layer of insulation.
What you’re left with, is a low-bulk fabric that will keep you warmer for longer. The brushed back denim is also soft and warm against the skin making them incredibly comfortable to wear.
Designed in the same cut as our Classic Jeans, the Nordic Jeans feature two rear patch pockets and two front hand pockets, with one featuring an internal coin pocket and one featuring an internal zipped, easy-access pocket.
Like all Rohan clothing the Nordic Jeans are easy to care for – totally washable and dry comfortably hanging up overnight, with little to no ironing required. They’re also incredibly light considering the thermal nature of the denim, this improved warmth to weight ratio make them ideal for taking with you on your next arctic adventure.
Whether you’re going on a whale watching excursion in Iceland or watching the Aurora Borealis in Northern Canada, the Nordic Jeans are an essential choice for your cold-weather wardrobe.

We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
Denim Plus is an advanced blend of cotton and Coolmax® polyester that offers the natural look and feel of 100% cotton denim – without the downsides. Compared to ordinary denim, it’s more durable, quicker drying, lighter and offers a comfortable amount of stretch for unrestricted freedom of movement.
Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.

I don't agree that the warm properties here are disappointing. I tried them for size on a dismal ,damp winter day on my return from collecting them at the shop, and immediately appreciated how warm they were. Needless to say, I kept them on. Later, when out of doors, I realised how good their technology is in terms of harnessing warmth .
I have three pairs of winter bags ( one retired to the garden, and the others in their late first and second decade , and as good as new.) These warm winter jeans run them a close race for warmth and comfort, and , when a repeat order is called for , this product may well prevail. As ever , a very satisfied customer .
Nice jeans, but the winter rating is a bit disappointing. I have the lined jeans as well & they're noticeably warmer. The nordic ones don't feel warmer than standard jeans. I suppose they're ok if you're in & out doors a lot as the lined ones are too warm we sat inside. As per other reviews, I think the old style inner security pocket is better as the zip can scratch. overall great jeans for travel, but not so if you're going really cold places.
Otherwise good cold weather jeans spoilt by small front pockets. All my other Rohan legwear have front pockets that are suitable for a mobile phone but not these. Had to choose the next larger waist size, probably due to the thicker material.
First off the fabric's heavier than the Advance Jeans. This makes them a bit smaller for the same stated size.
Second it takes a few washes for the rather stiff fabric to soften up. They don't seem to shrink.
They are nice and warm, as good as the jeans with fleece linings I bought a couple of years ago. The pockets are a good size although I can't work out what the zipped pocket inside one of the front pockets is all about! A key loop would be useful.
After washing they dry overnight, don't think I'd like to get them wet on a walk. I think they'd behave more like denim than Rohan.
I'm happy with them, I'd buy them again in fact if they bring some black ones out who knows?
These are my go-to winter walking jeans. I like them better than lined trousers. I've walked over 500 miles in them and they have worn and washed well, they easily dry overnight for me. The only thing I'm not so keen on is the metal hidden zip in the left pocket. I keep my phone in the pocket and I don't like the idea of the screen and the metal zip being that close, but it's a small niggle (the secure pocket on my Rohan cords has velcro that would be better in my opinion.
These are better than the lined version which I found too thick and warm to wear indoors so of limited use. These you can but still warm.
2 criticisms. The side pockets are shallower than before, I prefer the deeper pockets on the lined version. Also the security inner pocket has a zip which is bulky and can catch the hand when using the pocket, prefer the previous version of inner pocket.
Worn for a walk in the country park today. Seven degrees in the shade. They feel no warmer than any other jeans - just a lot more expensive (even at 40% off!).
And they’re made in China - another star off
I own several pairs of the normal Rohan jeans, however, have now purchased the
Nordic jeans 12
13/01/2021 having tried on the previous lined version which I did not like owing to probably being to warm indoor. I have worn my Nordic jeans today &
they exactly what I’ve been waiting for. I plan to buy a second pair.
Just the product I have been looking for in Rohan. Integrated lining so not like wearing over pyjama bottoms or Long Johns .Two part inner relied on "layered insulation, these have "built-in.". Substantial weight so more durable than the Standard, especially knees and not into the cult of "distressed" wear. Relaxed comfort without "elasticated" effect. A real find and response to need. Thank you, at last !!!
I bought a pair of these in February 2020 and having previously owned the fleece lined versions wasn’t sure whether these new fangled whipasnapper jeans would cut the mustard. Well I’ve bought more and they do cut the mustard in several ways the predecessor jeans could get unbeatable hot indoors whereas the Nordic jeans remain warm but comfortable, the denim feels quite a bit thicker than the standard Rohan Jean and heavier than the Newtown. I will buy more as they are considerably warmer but not uncomfortable warm as some of the lined trousers. I haven’t noticed a pocket size difference but I do know some people with short arms and long pockets don’t go drinking with them is my advice.
Comfy material and not as bulky as lined jeans/pants. I can't tell yet whether they're as warm as the lined jeans, but they'll likely be more comfortable indoors as the lined jeans can be too warm for indoor wear. Also like the cut as one can wear bulkier winter shoes with these jeans as opposed to the skinnier legged non-winter jeans. Two drawbacks, however, especially for those who wish to use these for travel. Front pockets are not deep (2 inches shallower than Newtown jeans), which doesn't make sense in this era of larger mobile phones. Also, the inside front security pocket has a zipper closure rather than hook and loop as with other Rohan jeans, making the pocket either practically unusable or awkwardly usable (best with two hands).
Good quality product which definitely keep me warmer on cold days. I feel they would benefit from two more belt loops. Strange that there is no visible Rohan branding other than the washing instruction labels inside the garment
Bought these in one of Rohan’s sales as my previous winter jeans were many sizes too big due to weight loss. I really liked the predecessors as they were very warm but could difficult to wear indoors as you’d overheat. The new versions with the thermolite denim are warm with a brushed softness on the insides, they keep me warm when outdoors and feel thicker than the heavier Rohan Newtown jeans. I like them and will probably buy some other pairs, it’s a pity that the lined jeans were stopped as there is room for both as the lined versions have the edge in cold protection to my mind. I still recommend these to wear though.
Purchased these in Henley-on Thames just about 3 weeks ago. Have worn them at 4C and can confirm warmer than normal jeans. However, I don't think they will prove to be as warm as the old Winter Jeans and definitely not as warm as my Winter Bags. Have just ordered a pair of the older Winter Jeans from the Souk.
I bought a pair of these last week on a whim and I can confirm they really are a warm trouser and they look like normal jeans. I've been wearing them on my bike commute and they really have kept the cool Autumn evenings at bay. One bit of warning - they do need to be put through your washing machine twice before the colour stops transferring. The label does warn you about colour transfer to be fair - but even so; it's pretty significant. I've just ordered a second pair. It's a shame they don't do them in black.
