Lightweight, incredibly comfortable and with great thermal efficiency and a Durable Water Repellency finish – the Polar Mitts are ideal for snowy, freezing days.
Read more…Every element of the Polar Mitts have been carefully designed to provide optimal protection from the elements whilst still providing unrivalled comfort.
The mitts are filled with Pinneco Mantle™, an impressive synthetic insulation that uses a micro-web layering system to create a lightweight and compressible high-loft structure, with multiple air pockets across its layers. This ensures excellent thermal efficiency without compromising on weight or bulk. We’ve used 60g of insulation on the palm and between the thumb, and a thicker 100g of insulation on the top of the hand for improved warmth.
We’ve also included a super-soft, high-loft lining that not only aids warmth but also feels fantastic against the skin.
The outer fabric of these mitts is made with a tough polyamide blend that provides excellent protection from the wind, whilst the Durable Water Repellency™ finish will prevent wetting-out and ensure hands stay dry in damp, wintery conditions.
The palm features a tough, abrasion resistant patch for grip and the cuffs are stretchy to provide a secure, ergonomic fit around the wrist. There are also clips to keep the mitts together – a convenient feature for the absent-minded.
Fabric:
Shell: 85% polyamide 15% elastane; palm patch: 60% polyurethane 40% polyamide; thumb back: 91% polyester 9% elastane; insulation 100% polyester; lining: 100% polyester
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Insuloft is an advanced synthetic wadding that offers a better warmth-to-weight ratio than polyester fleece and better performance when wet than conventional down. It’s durable, compressible, lightweight, easy to wash and fast drying – it’s the perfect choice for cold-weather protection.

Polar could not be further from the truth.
I expect Rohan products although expensive to be good technically and in quality.
At 0 degrees c my hands are cold within 20 minutes same as a pair of gloves from Aldi. Somewhat cheaper!
I went for mitts because they are meant to be warmer. Please make mittens that are truly Polar,
Not a good product from Rohan
I bought these to replace my similar TrekMate mittens in the expectation they would perform as well (if not better, given they are twice the price) and fit in my pockets more easily. They fulfilled the second, but not the first. My Trek Mates have been sledding in the artic circle, night sailing, hiking in snowy Rocky Mountains, and most commonly, winter walking on the Norfolk coast. I pick up beach rubbish daily from the very large to the very small (1-2mm plastic nurdles); for the nurdles and biobeads, there's nothing for it but to take at least one glove off, even in freezing temperatures with a brisk wind, so I want a glove I can get on again with ease. I found these polar mites weren't as warm in general (especially in a 50mph easterly wind) and the cuff has no warmth at all. The cuff was also not very stretchy. I have small hands, but needed the medium size, and even then I struggle to get them on once my hands are damp. They aren't as water proof as my TrekMates: OK in a shower but not torrential rain, and if I hold something wet, they aren't waterproof at all.
On the plus side they wash well, are quick drying and stuff into my pockets well
