Read more…This multi-pocketed hip-length jacket features five zipped security pockets in total, one internal and four external, allowing the wearer to carry all essential items needed on any trip. An adjustable waist drawcord and cuffs have been provided for a closer fit and maximum versatility. This is the ultimate expedition/trekking jacket, with the styling to work just as effectively in the city.
Our designers created a large vent on the rear of the jacket for increased airflow, improving breathability. Insect Shield® technology has been treated on the entirety of the jacket for long-lasting, effective and convenient insect protection.
Made using a combination of advanced Polyamide and Elastane for incredible and long-lasting durability, comfort and freedom of movement. These modern fibres have a Dynamic Moisture Control finish, keeping you feeling cool and comfortable even in hot and humid conditions.

Insect Shield® technology converts clothing into convenient, comfortable and effective protection against biting insects. Each Insect Shield® labelled garment is treated with Permethrin, an invisible an odourless ingredient which protects against insects such as mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers and midges. The treatment is so tightly bonded to the fabric fibres that it retains effectiveness through the expected life of the product – well beyond the limits of most fabric finishes.

Great jacket - size is big!
This is a really comfortable, practical and surprisingly stylish jacket. I am really pleased with mine. It kept me dry in a heavy rain shower, has plenty of pockets, and feels snug. I am 1.83 m and 83 kg and the best fit for me is a small! I think if you were planning to stuff all the pockets with bulky items then I can see how you might then want a larger size, but this is literally the only time in my life when my chosen size was a small.
A jacket for warmer seasons
I bought this jacket for my partner’s birthday. He wanted a stylish, lightweight safari style for the warmer weather, and this fits the bill. The pockets are a bonus.
I had ordered both the Dune and Dusk colours, in Large and Extra-Large to compare and contrast.
My partner preferred the darker colour and in the bigger size. There’s a bit more room if you want to wear a thin layer underneath. The Large would only have accommodated a shirt.
All in all, a partner who is very happy with his present.
My partner is 6 feet tall and weighs 15 stone. Hope this review helps other buyers.
My review of the men’s pioneer jacket
My children clubbed together to buy this jacket for my 80th birthday. I have been a Rohan devotee for 50 years, and you never fail to deliver. It doesn’t have too many pockets, which is always a test of memory. It is very comfortable, and I am hoping hard wearing. I will wear it a lot. The magic back pocket now houses my folding umbrella, and even when sitting doesn’t intrude. Probably not your intention, but for me it works. Lets out the hot air, but rejects the cold wind. A perfect design. Thank you.
First review of Pioneer Jacket
For decades I have been trying to replace my US-Army surplus M-65 jacket. It was a sort of showerproof safari-type jacket. I think Pioneer has done it at last. I have tried it in the lockdown Peak district for a week with wind and snow flurries. The XXL size layers nicely over the Rohan vista for extra warmth, and sleeves are nearly knuckle length. The pockets are truly capacious for gloves, sunglasses, reading glasses, phone etc. It looks quite elegant in an army-surplus way (think Foggy Dewhurst here). Definitely a jacket for downtown Kyoto in winter. I have yet to try it in rain but will be happy if it is truly showerproof. I can rate it "good value" for money as I got a discount.

Just got this and I love it !!it fits like a glove
Looking forward to a trip to SA for rugby and I intend to live in it !!
Two possible improvements I would suggest to the genius who invented it:
A hood inside the collar and whilst it boasts more pockets than a snooker table perhaps an inside normal pocket .
All in all it looks and feels more expensive than it is ( Hugo boss type).
I always read the reviews on Rohan items before I buy so I hope this one helps others,
