Read more…Conquer winter. No matter the weather. The Kendal Jacket provides complete protection from the elements and is perfect for layering over a base layer and/or fleece for extra warmth. Great for when you're exploring the hills or further afield as the mechanical stretch fabric allows more comfort and freedom when you're out and about, making it a perfect addition to your wardrobe.
The Kendal Jacket has our renowned 2-Layer Barricade Standard and Durable Water Repellency (DWR) outer to stand up to the elements for those wet and windy days. The classic styling with the longer length helps keep you warm from the elements, whilst the functional features of the adjustable draft excluding cuffs and handwarmer pockets, make sure to keep the bitter wind out and the warmth in creating the perfect combination for the cold season. Details such as these make the Kendal Jacket perfect for all occasions, be it on the hills or popping to the shops during the colder weather.
The great British weather plays a big part in our outdoor adventures, which is why the Kendal Jacket comes with our renowned Barricade Standard, which combines our latest fabric technology for being waterproof, windproof and breathable. Our innovative 2-Layer Barricade standard uses technology to bond the outer fabric with the internal breathable membrane, then lined with taffeta and mesh for your added comfort.
For our garments to be classed as reaching the Barricade Standard, the fabric must achieve a minimum Hydrostatic Head of 20,000mm. Hydrostatic Head is a fabric measurement way of measuring how waterproof a garment is. The fabric is held tightly in place, and water is then exerted at high pressure until the fabric starts to bead with water. The higher the count, the more waterproof the garment is.
The Kendal Jacket also includes the DWR finish, which boosts the fabric's water repellency. It forces water droplets to bead up and run off the outside of the fabric, maintaining its effectiveness and a loose lining protecting the membrane, which wicks away the moisture.
The perfect Jacket to add to your wardrobe for your adventures.

We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
Our DWR finish is an advanced treatment which dramatically increases the water repellency of our fabrics. On its own, it offers a useful level of shower resistance; used in conjunction with our Barricade technology, it reduces the tendency of the face fabric to wet out and maximizes breathability.
Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.
The Barricade standard gives you reassurance of a high level of waterproof protection. All of our waterproofs must meet our Barricade Standard to be ten times the British standard for waterproofing.
The waterproof fabric of the garment has two layers. The water-repellent outer fabric and the PU hydrophilic membrane are bonded together. In addition, a loose lining protects the membrane from the inside.

Returning not on quality or material but size not into layering so measure chest carefully 48" so XL wrong when trying on maybe 5" at chest too big and as I say in title coat I'm 5' 11" and is about 1 to 2" off my knee. Also no lining at sleeves because of length zip being new smaller profile no doubt for weather seal is fiddly to align when putting on. But in general consider it would be very fit for purpose otherwise. Regards David
Was really looking forward to my new waterproof. Had already tried it on in the shop in December, felt OK.
Bought in sale when was better value for money, BUT. The upper side pockets layed with the bottom of the pocket lying partly open. As the pocket is only held by a press stud in the middle, I feel this is not keeping the shape. I think a line of Velcro from top to bottom of opening would be better suited.
Really disappointed to have to return the waterproof jacket.
Look forward to any comments!!
Ordered as update to long Ridge jacket which we both have but returned. My husband did not like the high hand warmer pockets, he thought that they would be in the way of rucksack straps and may let water in in windy weather as only one popper to close. Would much prefer lower hand warmer pockets as in woman's version. He also felt that the hood was a little small. Disappointed as we have both had several Rohan coats over the years, all brilliant, and felt this one lacked forethought in design. Fabric excellent as usual and very good length, essential in the wet and windy south west.
