Read more…Perfect for a multi-day hike or trekking holiday, the Traverse Trousers are an incredibly comfortable, super stretchy, lightweight pair of trousers with a smart, minimalist design.
Made from our tough polyamide fabric with Multi Flex four-way stretch, the Traverse Trousers are durable, hard-wearing and fantastically stretchy. They’ve been ergonomically designed to match the natural shape of the leg and have articulation darts around the knee to give a perfect 360° fit. The elasticated side panels on the waistband give unimpeded freedom of movement and all day comfort whether you’re walking, scrambling or doing a mixture of both.
The Traverse Trousers have a Durable Water Repellency finish to keep the showers at bay, and with reinforced anti-scuff tape on the hems they offer long-lasting durability. There’s also a soft, brushed finish on the inner waist for added warmth.
These lightweight trousers are incredibly easy to care for, with the ability to be washed by hand or by machine and have a quick dry time, making them ideal for taking on hiking trips or expeditions.
With a total of four zipped pockets conveniently located for easy access, including one rear pocket, two front pockets with an internal Tri-ring in one and a leg pocket that’s big enough to fit an OS Map, there’s plenty of space for all your essentials.
These incredibly stretchy, lightweight trousers are made for all day comfort and long-lasting durability over tough terrain – a great choice for rugged expeditions and multi-day hikes.
Fabric:
92% Polyamide, 8% Elastane
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
Our DWR finish is an advanced treatment which dramatically increases the water repellency of our fabrics. On its own, it offers a useful level of shower resistance; used in conjunction with our Barricade technology, it reduces the tendency of the face fabric to wet out and maximizes breathability.
Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.

I have ony been out walking in them once so far but I really like them !
The all season fabric is very stretchy and I like the elastic panels in the waistband to help them remain comfortable if one's figure should ever expand.
The fit (34 reg.) is very good and quite flattering with those zip-up pockets.
I ticked 'Great Value' because I got them in the sale.
I ought the traverse to replace an old pair of Mens summits, and although they no longer have a fleece lining, the fabric is still functional without being too warm. The material is stretch which gives an all round comfortable wear. Would recommend fully
I'm a new converter to Rohan, in the last four years I've bought three pairs of Trailblazers, three stretch bags, two Highgrounds and three of these wonderful Traverse trousers. The last two items I've hardly been out if through Autumn till now, late March. Both warm for golf, hill walking and right through to paragliding. Ample stretch and comfort, great pockets with robust zipping with comfort abound. Only wish I'd found them years earlier. Next stop is upper body wear which I'll replace with Rohan as other inferior items wear. Having seen what's on offer then I don't think I'll be disappointed.
I do not want to overdo the praise here but these (sale bought) True Navy Traverses are simply the most comfortable and good looking trousers I have ever worn. They feel and fit like the "Trailblazers" but are "all season". I had them shortened by 1" as I do with most Rohans. The high (ish) waist and generous belt loops mean they "stay up". The elasticated panels work well and there are NO annoying quirks. I am impressed with the side pocket material. I am fed up saying this but I wish you had been around in the 60`s and early 70`s. Well done!
Just received these trousers and they do look great. However I can’t get my head around Rohan’s sizing of late. My Trailblazers are a great fit at 36 short. The last two pairs of trousers I bought (not Trailblazers) wouldn’t go near me at a 36 waist so I had to order a 38 waist. So with these Traverse trousers I ordered a 38 - too big! And they were clearly labelled a short leg so should have been a 29 length, but no, they were 31, which is regular. What’s going on Rohan? Anyway I’m returning them with a note and a plea for a genuine 36 short replacement. Let’s see!
With the reopening of shops just popped into Rohan in Winchester to buy a third pair of these excellent trousers. I initially bought these for summer wear but found they were equally suitable for winter walking, all be it sometimes with another layer. Good size pockets, reliable zips, good fit, light weight and offering short length size are some of the reasons I have found these ideal. They are not cheap ( why so expensive?) but my two other pairs have lasted well being worn for walking probably five or six days a week. Good customer service from the very helpful staff in the Winchester branch.
Quality and fit are excellent. Good sturdy trousers. A nice change from the skinny fits it seems impossible to avoid at the moment.
Perfect for general use / walking in the cooler months.
I bought these to replace my now ageing Rohan Striders, for walking, hiking and general use, and I had expected to compromise somewhere from the fit and performance of those well-loved leggings, but I have not had to.
The fit, cut and material of the Traverse is spot on for me, both the design and the material demonstrates improvements, which is progress indeed. I would be really pleased if Rohan stick to this winner and also provide a some lighter coloured options in the 'brown spectrum' in their future ranges.
Hi There writing a second review for the traverse trousers Done about 3000 miles with 1 pair even though I have another 2 pairs now. Love them they wash well dont lose colour and they are like new. just have a snag in them due to climbing over barb wire. they are really confy even when wet never put my wets on even in winter. All my clothes are from Rohan love the brand. Just 1 problem dont have enough space to keep them all. A++++++++++++
I got these last week and went for a walk today 12/12/ 20, and to say I am impressed is an understatement they are just right, Rohan have done it again, the knee articulation is perfect they are very comfortable, I think they are better than Trailblazers and they are very good. Very pleased with these.
Excellent debut for the Traverse on a multiday trail hike. Comfortable, light, hard-wearing, and saw me happily through a constant drizzle. They will definitely be my go-to for cool weather trail adventures from now on.
Simply the best trousers I have ever walked in only use these now and I have about 8 pairs of rohan trousers. comfy when wet and they retain heat when wet. no wind chill love them going to buy 2 more pairs 1 for best A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I've just bought my second pair of these in the current sale as I was so impressed with the first pair. Those were intended to replace a pair of Summit trousers which I'd used in colder weather, but were beginning to wear around the leg hems due to the inevitable abrasion from walking boots. The Traverse trousers are lighter, but seem to work very well over a wider range of temperatures, whether you're actually walking from A to B, or standing around in colder weather waiting for goshawks to display in February and March. Well made and a commendably simple design, with no unnecessary bells and whistles. Marvellous.
I would have bought a second pair but 30 inch waist sold out.
Love them and life in them. I've ordered another pair after my initial purchase. The water proofness was over-sold in the shop (Keswick) but the 4 way stretch makes them supremely comfortable if you are used to stretch-fit
trousers and warm but not too warm with a great pocket configuration.
