The outer layer is woven and treated with our Durable Water Repellency finish, offering protection from light showers and snow – whilst improving the drying time of the product.
Hidden in the mid layer is the windproof membrane, offering total protection from those biting northern winds with no penalty in terms of bulk. The inner layer is a brushed fleece to provide warmth.
The collar and chin guard has been lined with Microfleece for maximum comfort and warmth. The Windstorm Fleece features two zipped hand pockets to store valuable items while on your outdoor adventure. There are also two large drop in pockets to store larger items.

We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
Our DWR finish is an advanced treatment which dramatically increases the water repellency of our fabrics. On its own, it offers a useful level of shower resistance; used in conjunction with our Barricade technology, it reduces the tendency of the face fabric to wet out and maximizes breathability.
Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.

This jacket is very light yet very warm too. The sleeves slide over a shirt sleeve very easily when being put on unlike some other jacket sleeves. A vertical chest pocket would be useful were it possible to build it in. I cannot vouch for its water repellency but, after a slight accident on the Pullman train last week, I can vouch for its gin and tonic repellency! The albeit very expensive liquid just formed into little balls and rolled away off the jacket.
An excellent purchase. Not as fluffy as a traditional fleece, but just as warm and the lack of bulk aids layering. Windproof and (although I haven’t worn it in the rain) I suspect it will do steeling service in keeping the rain off.
I bought one at full price - then the week after they were dramatically reduced in a sale. So I bought another.
Highly recommended.
Be aware that this is rather a 'lightweight' item. The fleece on the inside is not a deep pile so it does not feel particularly 'cosy' to wear. In anything but fairly mild conditions one would need a jacket on top.
I suppose it is designed as a 'layering' garment.
It would benefit from a small chest exterior slip-pocket to take a phone, as when wearing a rucksack the waist straps blank off the side pockets so they are not easily accessible.
Got it in sale so good value at that price!
Currently walking on Uist in the Outer Hebrides in gale force winds and at times driving rain/sleet. This fleece is exceptional and is truly keeping me going. Using the Rohan five layer system this fleece worn below a waterproof blocks the cutting wind perfectly. I’m also using the Glacier Waterproof Gloves which are also windproof and truly waterproof. A life saver.
A great top for spring days when the weather is so variable. It does keep out the wind and so far has proofed showerproof. I must confess that at first I was a tad disappointed as I was expecting something softer. But the more I wear it the better I have come to appreciate its qualities. It also works well as a mid-layer under a waterproof.
