*A Note on Sun Protection
All Rohan garments which carry our sun protection icon, have been tested in accordance with recognised international standards for ultraviolet radiation protection. As a guide to the level of protection offered to covered areas, garments are awarded a rating of UPF 40+. Protection may be significantly reduced with extended wear or if the garment is stretched or wet; the reduction of associated health risks will vary with other factors such as skin type or individual medical history.
Fabric:
65% polyester, 30% viscose, 5% elastane.
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.

Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.

My whole wardrobe consists of Rohan, sad I know, but theses trousers are the worst I’ve had , I’ve had them for a while now and everything is attracted to stick on them and as for washing, do not put them in machine with anything else cos again they are a magnet to any fluff. Today I’m putting them in the Salvation Army bin. Not up to Rohan standard, I do hope they never use the material again.
I would have given them a 5* but compared to Amblers that I love they haven’t got so much stretch and dog hairs are attracted and stick and as my little dog is on my lap a lot it’s a nuisance, can’t win ‘em all.
I bought these to use mainly for walking but also as trousers that I could wear in a cafe/bar without looking as though I had just come off a mountain. They meet my requirements. Two comments: first, dog hair/cat hair adheres to them and is almost impossible to remove; secondly, they are rather jodhpur shaped. I have found other Rohan trousers too wide in the thigh. With good stretch fabric they could be made a little more fitted and look smarter.
Great and comfy though these trousers are, in my view they need belt loops as having worn them half a dozen times, they are beginning to lose elasticity and sink to the hips, which is an unpleasant and insecure feeling.
I had a pair in grey for about 6 months and was so pleased with them I bought another pair in navy.
Fit was just as good and they seemed comfortable so I wore them for a couple of days in a row till I noticed when I stood up there was a blue stain on my cream sofa where the back of my lower leg contacts. (wondering if like jeans I should have washed them before wearing)
I washed them twice with a “colour grabber” but have been a bit scared to wear them since in case the colour still rubs off.
I rather want to buy a pair in black as well but worry that the same may happen with the black.
I still have a pair of navy trousers from 2004 and they were always colourfast. Same with an “ink” coloured vest and cardigan - completely colourfast.
Comments please as I do still want to wear the navy and buy a pair in black.
I have had these in grey for almost a year and they have been great, particularly in warm weather as they are light weight fabric.
Excellent trousers according to my wife, however could you please increase the colour range e.g. aubergine, green, dark grey and red.
Also as I can't find a generic feedback form, can you please bring back the Springback dresses and increase their colour range as per above. According to the wife they're fantastic and she's sure they'd sell as she's had that many good comments when she wears one.
Have several pairs now of both these trousers. Both great, but if you are undecided, I would say....amblers are long lasting, can be dressed up with a tian shirt, or out for the day with tees and fleece/waterproof, all good. They are more of an 'outdoor trousers' just because of the zipped pockets. The reason I prefer the 'Hometown' trousers, is just because of the slanted pockets (no zip) which look much smarter with a merino top/cardi. Honestly, if you invest in a couple of these outfits, they will take you anywhere.. just great!
