Ultralight, ultra-packable, ultra-warm – the Women's Mistral Jacket offers amazing insulation using its supremely soft, technical drop liner and plenty of water resistance thanks to its micro ripstop polyester outer with Durable Water Repellency finish.

The technical, high loft Octa® Yarn lining offers an advanced alternative to a standard polyester fleece. The secret is the sophisticated construction of the individual polyester fibres that make up the fabric. They have a hollow core together with a total of eight “side fins”: in cross section the filaments have the appearance of a star – with a hole through the middle which trap pockets of air against the body.
This clever material is far more thermally efficient than traditional fleece in both dry and wet conditions. Visually, the lining has a striking honeycomb pattern and is incredibly soft against the skin for an exceptionally comfortable fit.
The ripstop polyester exterior, despite feeling soft, is very hard-wearing and with the addition of the Durable Water Repellency finish, it offers great resistance to showers and prevents the garment from wetting out.
The genius of the yarn means that it has excellent warmth to weight ratio. The reduction in bulk and the lightweight exterior fabric results in an extremely packable garment, weighing only 295g. And with the addition of a Packpocket, it’s easy to stick it in your bag and take with you on your adventures.
The yarn has great wicking properties which make it breathable, but also give it a quick dry time. And you can wash it on a cool wash in the machine or by hand, making it really easy to care for.
There’s a fixed hood which adds extra protection from showers, wind and cold. There’s also a zipped chest pocket and two zipped hand pockets. The hood edge, sleeve cuffs and dropped rear hem are all elasticated to trap warmth and improve the fit.
This luxuriously soft, ultra-lightweight jacket offers an impressive amount of thermal efficiency for its size, making it an ideal choice for taking on cold weather adventures.

We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
Offering an extremely high warmth-to-weight ratio in conjunction with superb breathability, compressibility and packability, our Octa™ Yarn lining offers an advanced alternative to a standard polyester fleece. It’s the perfect choice for walking, hillwalking and all active outdoor use.
Our DWR finish is an advanced treatment which dramatically increases the water repellency of our fabrics. On its own, it offers a useful level of shower resistance; used in conjunction with our Barricade technology, it reduces the tendency of the face fabric to wet out and maximizes breathability.
Clever design is more often than not about what to take off rather than what to put on. It’s about giving one feature multiple functions. That’s why many of our garments feature a Packpocket™. This handy addition converts pockets into space-saving storage by compressing the garment into itself. You could use it as a travel pillow when it’s all packed down too.
Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.

This jacket is so lightweight, yet keeps out the wind and adds warmth when required. I am a size 12 to 14 so bought a large to wear layers underneath. Very pleased
The jacket is very cosy and warm, light and comfortable. It is very useful to have a close fitting attached hood.
I am happy with the elasticated cuffs.
Just a suggestion, but I would prefer a velcro fastening with a placket so that sleeves can be rolled up occasionally.
I am very pleased with the jacket and look forward to more colour choices.
I’ve been looking at this jacket for a little while but thought it too expensive then it came up in the sale and I decided to get it. I’m so glad I did.
It’s a lovely lightweight jacket, very comfy to wear and I think will be quite warm when the weather turns cooler.
Very pleased with the weight and warmth the jacket provides. Excellent value as I picked it up in the sale.
This is my all time favourite Rohan purchase. It is incredibly light but warm - and the perfect, sleek fit (size 12). I also love the colour - Cumbria Blue.
I bought this in the sale as a summer jacket but with a fleece underneath it it is fine for walking or in the car in January (I bought a larger size to allow for this). The hood is comfortable and does not flop over my eyes. It is also the perfect travel jacket, light and all-purpose, and when stuffed into its pickpocket is the right shape for a neck pillow on the plane.
I do not particularly like the look of it or the colour, I certainly would not call it attractive. Like other reviewers, I don't like the cuffs, I would prefer elastic all the way round, so the cuffs don't trail. At non-sale prices it is quite a lot of money and not great value, but was very good value in the sale.
However, this is my go-to jacket for nearly everything now because it just does the job excellently.
The Mistral jacket is surprisingly warm for such a lightweight/packable jacket and very, very comfortable. At first, I thought the sleeves were too long, but in colder weather when you have a couple of layers underneath, the sleeves turn out to be just the right length. Unexpectedly, it has turned out to be my favourite and most frequently worn jacket this autumn/winter. I bought it on sale, making it a real winner.
Had slight misgivings in the shop as it seemed impossible that such a feather weight jacket would live up to its claims. My faith in Rohan prevailed. It’s fantastic. Brilliant on its own for Spring and Autumn and light enough to use as a base layer in Winter. I agree with another review that hood is well designed and a good fit. I am normally a size 12 and the medium fits comfortably with room for a thermal top and lightweight down gilet underneath. It’s a shame the lining isn’t shown in the photos. It’s a sort of velvety honeycomb effect, not very thick or bulky but really warm. This will always be an essential part of my walking gear.
My partner purchased this jacket, and was so delighted with it that he wanted me to get one as well. We are both extremely happy with our Mistral Jackets. They are lightweight, yet have a soft, warm, cosy lining. The hood is excellent, which is a real bonus, as so many hoods just don't hit the correct mark. The hood moves with your head as one, held in place by a soft elasticated rim. The jackets are ideal for Spring and Autumn walks. I even tried my Mistral jacket the other day in the bitter cold as a layering system under my Icepack jacket, as I needed a good hood, and it did the job well. Two delighted, long standing Rohan enthusiasts.
I wanted a light weight jacket that was warm and windproof. Ive had the jacket a week and went for a 10 mile urban walk in Edinburgh. The day started off at 4 degrees and sunny and a few miles into the walk it was raining and windy. The jacket performed really well, I remained dry and comfortable. Really pleased I made this purchase. I teamed this jacket with the womens Merino Union 150 Zip Neck top which also performed really well.
Superwarm and superlight. Am still only wearing a T shirt underneath and it's end of October. I bought next size up (usually S but I bought M) to allow for extra layers. The only issue is the cuffs are loose but soon rectified by threading elastic through.
I am a huge fan of Rohan. Everything is so well made and great quality.
I’ve had this jacket for about one month and I literally wear it whenever I can. It’s so comfortable and very lightweight. It’s warm and the lining is so very cosy. I’ve worn it when doing a 10 mile walk in showery conditions and it kept me dry and warm all day. I wear it with jeans and boots when popping down to town and it looks good - a very versatile jacket.
