Cosy, down-filled reversible jacket offering outstanding winter insulation.
Read more…During what has become known as The Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration, famous explorers such as Scott, Shackleton and Amundsen had to rely on coats made of gaberdine and use layers of woollen sweaters to keep warm. It was the best technology they had available but would often prove lamentably inadequate for the task in hand - few survivors of these intrepid polar adventures escaped without frostbite.
A century later, time (and technology) has moved on and we like to think Captain Scott, Sir Ernest and Roald would approve of our Nordic jacket.
Its ethically sourced premium duck down filling and substantial, adjustable hood would surely have found favour with arctic explorers looking to protect themselves from the biting cold.
You can reverse the jacket to reveal its high visibility lining and cleverly placed reflective trims – both important safety features, especially if your adventures take you to the remote corners of our planet – but equally as valuable on a cold winter's night along an unlit British country lane.
The adjustable hem and sleeve cuffs help you to really seal in the warmth, and warm fleece facings around the lining of the pockets feel luxurious and give cold fingers an extra boost when needed.
It also packs down into a surprisingly small bundle in its own integral Packpocket™.
With a Nordic jacket, why not create your own heroic Age of Exploration?

We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.
Clever design is more often than not about what to take off rather than what to put on. It’s about giving one feature multiple functions. That’s why many of our garments feature a Packpocket™. This handy addition converts pockets into space-saving storage by compressing the garment into itself. You could use it as a travel pillow when it’s all packed down too.

I love this jacket. It really is nice and cosy. I have to walk very slowly so having this level of warmth is really lovely. It is quite bulky, but it’s not a problem. I would recommend this to anyone who feels the cold.
Yes, it's bulky, especially under the arms, but if you feel the cold as I do it's fantastic. It's effectively windproof and certainly shower proof at least and dries quickly. Efficient hood and the coat reverses easily if you need for safety reasons to be easily seen.
I have had this jacket for a couple of years and although bulky it was great in Norway and the Arctic circle. However, I recently washed it, I couldn’t find any washing instructions on the jacket so put it in the washing machine at 30 degrees. The insulating layer clumped together in big lumps and I had to give it many vigorous shakes to get it nearly back to how it was. Due to the clumps it took a lot longer than 15 hours to get it dry all the way through. Disappointed as this has not been a problem with any other Rohan products. If it needs washing in the future I will just sponge the outer layer.
Ordered in the medium (I'd normally get a 12) but will be returning. The jacket is very bulky, I couldn't move my arms very well. When the hood is up there are 2 padded bits that fit right across my ears cutting off sound which isn't ideal when dog walking as I can't hear traffic etc. Shame as it's very very warm (although I'm not sure most of the UK gets cold enough for something this warm)
