Last year we introduced the Stretch Bags and these have been so popular we've decided to introduce a winter version so you can enjoy the benefits of these superb trousers all year round.
We've also added a luxurious jersey lining wadding to create the ultimate winter walking trouser.
For all day comfort there's a stretch elastic waistband with a soft inner and there are four secure outer pockets just like our standard Stretch Bags.
These superbly designed trousers offer outstanding protection against cold weather and the inbuilt stretch in the fabric means they're perfect for active walks and many different outdoor activities.
Not only that but if you're a football mum or a rugby widow you'll find they're also pretty good for simply standing around in. So, whether you're cheering the team on from a windswept touchline or hiking over Helvellyn we think you'll really appreciate what these winter trousers have to offer.
Fabric:
94% Polyamide 6% Elastane with a 100% Polyester lining
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
Insuloft is an advanced synthetic wadding that offers a better warmth-to-weight ratio than polyester fleece and better performance when wet than conventional down. It’s durable, compressible, lightweight, easy to wash and fast drying – it’s the perfect choice for cold-weather protection.
This garment has been tested in accordance with recognised international standards for ultraviolet radiation protection – and has been awarded a rating of UPF 40+. The protection offered may be significantly reduced with extended wear or if the garment is stretched or wet. Any associated UV risks will vary according to individual skin type or medical history.
Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.

Warm, fit well, not too bulky. Smart enough to wear 'out' as well as walking.
These are my winter go to trousers. I was delighted to see Rohan had provided a new colour in the brown. I have quite a few pairs of the ink but more colours would be good. Rohan stopped making a ladies version a few years ago and I had to buy the smallest size in the mens. They have made improvement and are ideal for walking on the Northumberland coast. Perhaps not the most stylish trousers, however, I am often loathe to take them off for a smarter pair when going to different places Perhaps bringing back a black or a grey would give me an extra option each winter?
There was a time when bags of all formats fitted correctly. These, however , are way off stated sizes. The waist sizes are grossly overstated, or at least they are in 38's. I have several pairs of 38 waist bags, both stretch and non-stretch and they fit fine. These however had to be stretched to their absolute limit to get anywhere near fitting round my waist. They were,m therefore totally unfit for purpose and were returned.
As soon as I tried these bags on in the shop I felt warmer!Good fit, not too bulky for me!Good length in regular as I am 5ft 7ins. Ink is a lovely dark navy, perfect as I hate black or brown...Worth their weight in gold in current cold weather from storm Arwen.
I wanted some warm,fleecy-lined trousers, but these have gone too far in that direction for me. I found that the lining makes them too bulky and not flexible enough to be comfortable, and far too heavy. I think I’d have liked them with the jersey lining but without the insuloft.
Trousers have good amount of insulation / padding without being bulky. They are very warm, but also smart enough to not look out of place if you are popping into town. Legs are straight so no odd flapping lower legs which some outdoor trousers have. I am disappointed at how fast they are going "bobbly" particularly between the legs - I wouldn't class myself as having thunder thighs but apparently my trousers disagree!
I've been wearing a pair of Rohan Winter Goas (since the 1990s?) for winter walking. They are still going strong, so these Winter Stretch Bags are a lockdown treat. I'm very pleased with them - the Goas are good, but these are better. They are warm and snug but with a good stretch and fit. The waist might be marginally large, but there are belt loops. Good value in the sale, and I hope that they last as long as the Goas!
I found these a few weeks ago, and have worn them frequently since. They fit me really well and are very warm and comfortable. Not cheap, but I guess you get what you pay for, and I'm very happy.
I am a shepherd and discovered these trousers last Spring. Too hot for the summer but come October I have worn nothing else. I have to walk long distances and they are so warm and comfortable with lots of deep secure pockets for penknife, baler twine etc. Saving up for another pair!
I love these Winter bags. I have worn them in snow and freezing temperatures in Switzerland and Scotland and they are fantastic.A little big on the waist, which is fine as you can always put a belt on! I have Winter Roamers as well, but find that with the extra stretch in these, that they are more comfortable.
I am a huge winter roamers fan so there was much to live up to. Unfortunately these fall a little short. Dont get me wrong, they are warm however and will get plenty of wear in the winter, they are certainly not as soft as the WR are. They are big around the waist and then tight on the leg. I have pretty large calves and these are super snug on the calf. I bought a size 8 and could have done with a 6 around waist and butt then a 10 in the leg. I have no doubt once the snow comes these will be out all the time but WR are still my number one winter trousers.
