Ideal for warmer weather and active outdoor use, this fantastic lightweight fleece is the definitive choice for a mid-layer.
Read more…Our best-selling Microrib Stowaway Jacket is one of our most popular lightweight fleeces and with good reason.
It's made from an advanced fleece fabric which uses a sophisticated knitting technique to create a rib pattern on the surface of the fabric. These grids give the fleece an attractive textured appearance but they also bring with them a host of technical benefits.
They reduce the bulk of the garment and make it lighter, so it’s far more comfortable to wear than a traditional fleece. It’s also more breathable and it packs down smaller so you can roll it up and chuck in your bag ‘just-in-case’.
It features two zipped side pockets for convenient stowage and one internal zipped pocket. The displaced shoulder seam reduces rubbing that can be caused when layering garments together and the addition of thumb loops make it extra comfortable to wear and great for keeping your hands warm.
The Microrib Stowaway Jacket is a versatile fleece designed to maximise the properties of this remarkable material. It’s a simple design but with a high specification technical fabric and is perfect as a layering piece when used with a waterproof or windproof outer layer.
Fabric:
100% polyester microfleece.
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.

I have 3 of these, in a variety of colours. Lightweight, ideal for taking on holiday for chillier nights, can be scrunched up into rucksack when walking, and the pretty colours don't look out of place over a dress when eating outdoors in the evening. They wash well, dry quickly, and don't need ironing. The only downside, in the two most recent ones I purchased, the thumb hole is now just a vertical opening in the seam, it was much more comfortable and secure when it was a reinforced horizontal slit - and looks more 'finished'.
These were the perfect jacket but the last 2 I have bought are enormous for a small. A little history. The first one I bought had sleeves a little short for me but other wise perfect for a summer warmer layer over light top. Second one was perfect. Next, getting too big. The last one bought in Feb or March was really far too big...now wear this one over the smaller one as a winter layer!!
I've bought 2 of these jackets in the past, but the oldest is now so well worn, I decided to replace it. The new jacket is longer in the sleeve and quite a bit longer in the body (9 cm longer at the back). I am 5'4" so not far off the average, but this small is just too big. I ordered the Red, which I would describe as Tomato, a bit orangy, not a true red red.
I now have 2 of these and find them very versatile. Great for taking away and also very handy to take out and about for a warm layer if needed. Wash easily and keep shape. Love the colours, I have a bright orange one and just purchased the vibrant light blue. Pleased to see Rohan taking the plunge with colour, so often I’m tempted but find the colours boring.
I love these jackets which I have been buying for tens of years but I am extremely sad to say that an extra small size is no longer made and, especially as a navy one is now available, a colour which I do not have. I never travel without taking at least two of these jackets.
Love these jackets! I have several in different colours, which have travelled all over the world with me.
Comfortable, lightweight & just the right temperature, whether you need a lightweight layer for when the evenings are chilly or the air con is too intense!
I always wear my jacket when flying, as airline cabin temperatures are always unpredictable.
The jacket's capability to be packed into my carry on bag or rucksack is a plus too. I'm very happy that the new design - longer back & resizing, has resulted in an even more comfortable piece of clothing.
I wouldn't travel without my Microgrid Stowaway!
Have recently bought one of these and love it, so comfy and lightweight, am just about to order the other 2 colours. Hoping for some different colours next year!
Can't get enough of these jackets. Have bought almost every colour going! Smart enough for work/ going out and great for hill & dog walking too. In very cold weather have worn two together. Husband wears them as an indoor cardigan in winter too. Wash well & dry quick - wash after the breakfast dog walk and it'll be dry for the tea time dog walk!
A great lightweight jacket. Warm but not bulky. I bought the purple colour and would like to buy the red soon.
