Providing a real insulation boost when you need it most, our Icepack Vest is a versatile and highly efficient warmth layer that’s perfect for everything from trekking expeditions to Sunday morning strolls.
Offering an incredible warmth-to-weight ratio in conjunction with a versatile design, our Icepack Vest is an indispensable layering piece for travel, outdoor and everyday use.
It’s filled with Insuloft™, our superbly efficient synthetic insulation. Pound for pound, it’s almost as effective as natural down. Unlike natural down, however, it doesn’t lose its insulation when it gets wet – so it’s absolutely perfect for the damp, cold conditions that are the hallmarks of a typical British winter.
It’s extremely easy to wash and dries very quickly – it certainly doesn’t require any sort of special treatment, protection or extra care – which is very reassuring if you’re on a long trekking trip.
The outer is a lightweight blend of 88% polyamide and 12% elastane which has been treated with our Durable Water Repellency™ finish – it shrugs off showers and offers a really useful level of wind resistance. It’s also extremely soft to the touch and offers an understated matte finish which doesn’t look overtly ‘technical’ – meaning you can walk down the High Street in winter without feeling like you’re dressed for an impromptu ascent of the Eiger Nordwand.
Our Icepack Vest features two cosy hand pockets that are part-lined in micro-fleece and feature large, glove-friendly zip pullers. The arm holes are part elasticated to help seal in the warmth, and the hem is adjustable so that you can fine-tune the fit.
A large internal stretch-mesh pocket doubles up as a Packpocket™ into which the whole vest stuffs for convenient stowage.

Cutting down windchill can make more difference to your comfort and safety than the amount of insulation you are wearing. Garments that carry this icon are Highly Wind Resistant.
Pocket science at Rohan is all about precision and detail of design, but most of all, it’s about keeping your most important stuff safe at times when losing keys, passports and wallet is more than just an inconvenience. We use several different methods – whichever is the most appropriate. Some pockets are completely hidden with micro zips, some are touch and close with roll-over tops and some are high quality zips.
Good design is more often about what to take off than what to put on. And clever design is about giving one feature two functions, that’s why many Rohan garments feature an internal mesh stretch pocket that doubles as a Packpocket™ for easy storage.
With a better warmth to weight ratio than fleece and far better performance when wet than down, Insuloft™ is the most practical and thermally efficient insulator available. It is an advanced synthetic that is tough, lightweight, packable, fast drying and easy to wash.
Our durable water resistant finish, which forces water droplets to ‘bead up’ and run off the outside of the jacket, is designed to remain at 80% efficiency – even after 20 washes.
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
There’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing. Rohan is your constant companion for every journey, whatever the journey.
