Our flattering Sanctuary Shirt is a fine example of the way we exploit technology within our garment design.
By adding a treatment called Insect Shield®, the Sanctuary Shirt helps to guard you against the unwelcome attention of tiny creatures conspiring to ruin your trip.
The seersucker construction of the material allows it to stand away from the skin, helping the air circulate and therefore keeping you cool. So it'll help you look good and feel great whether you're in the heart of the rainforest or outside your villa with a sundowner.
But the fabric doesn't confine its protection to insects, it helps to protect you from the sun too and comes with a UPF 40+* rating. This, coupled with Dynamic Moisture Control™, means our high-tech travel shirt will ensure you'll be nice to be near if your adventure takes you to warmer climes.
Backing up the high-performance fabric with some down-to-earth practical design details such as integral drying loops, three secure pockets and roll up sleeve tabs, the Sanctuary Shirt is an essential addition to the wardrobe of the serious traveller.

Insect Shield® technology converts clothing into convenient, comfortable and effective protection against biting insects. Each Insect Shield® - labelled garment is treated with Permethrin – an invisible and odourless treatment which protects against insects such as mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers and midges. The treatment is so tightly bonded to the fabric fibres that it retains effectiveness through the expected life of the product – well beyond the limits of most fabric treatments.

Sanctuary shirt
This shirt was bought for me as a gift and initially I was very pleased with it. It is well-made, the material feels good and the fit is excellent. However, it soon became apparent that the positioning of the concealed pocket was an issue. I like to wear my shirts tucked into trousers topped with a microgrid fleece but the pocket doesn't lie flat so the fleece sticks out and looks really weird. I could only wear the shirt if it was really warm (so not very often) when I could leave it loose over my trousers. Eventually I decided to remove the zip completely and, although I am not an expert seamstress, I have managed to make the shirt wearable - though the result doesn't bear close examination. I cannot recommend this shirt to anyone who likes to wear them tucked in and think that it would benefit from the complete removal or repositioning of the pocket.
Great shirt but beware the poppers
I am happy with this shirt, but might not buy it again. It's a comfortable fabric that looks good and washes and dries well. But, I didn't notice that it has what is described as a 'snap front closure' i.e. poppers. But the trouble is, they do pop! For example, when a rucksack strap pulls on the shirt or something snags on it. Fortunately the shirt is a good size for me, but if it were a little small then the bust poppers would also pop. So, nice as this shirt is, it really needs buttons. I bought this in the sale and I think it's good value at that price.

I already have two of these shirts in different colours (pale blue and pale turquoise) so was pleased to see the teal colour offered
Bought in the Rohan sale so makes it even better value
These shirts wash very well, hang them on a coat hanger and no need to iro.
Great for holidays for that reason
Wear it open over a co-ordinating T Shirt or buttoned as a more formal blouse and it works well and it makes it more versatile
