Stretchy, functional trekking trousers which are great for travel too.
Read more…Simple, functional and oh so comfortable, our Summit technical trekking trousers are the perfect solution for active walking enthusiasts.
They've got a flattering, close-fitting cut so they don't billow when it gets blustery and are stretchy to provide unrestricted freedom of movement. They’re also durable and highly wind resistant, and have a discreet scuff panel on the trailing edge of the rear hem to prevent the heels of your walking boots from chaffing the material.
The inside of the fabric has a brushed texture which is not only soft against the skin but it provides added thermal performance. And the Durable Water Repellency™ treatment will shrug off a light rain shower and give you plenty of time to get out of the rain if the weather takes a sharp turn for the worse.
The simple, understated design means they’re great for trekking, but will equally cross over into casual wear or form part of your versatile travel wardrobe.
Fabric:
94% polyester, 6% elastane with Durable Water Repellency™
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
Please take extra care when washing this item and follow these care instructions:
30 degrees, gentle action cool machine wash or hand wash. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry. Cool iron. Do not dry clean. Wash dark colour separately. Do not use fabric conditioners or dryer sheets. Rinse thoroughly. Iron on reverse side.
To restore water repellency cool iron only
While this product is easy-care we always recommend using non-biological liquid detergent.
Our DWR ™ finish is an advanced treatment which dramatically increases the water repellency of our fabrics. On its own, it offers a useful level of shower resistance; used in conjunction with our Barricade™ technology, it reduces the tendency of the face fabric to wet out and maximizes breathability.
Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.

I also bought the winter summat trousers in early January particularly because of the nice warm lining.
I bought a size 10 short my normal size but they were far too big so got the size 8 which wasn’t ideal but fitted. The length was still too long and I’m 5’4” so not that petite. After 3 months the pockets have also come unstuck and after several washes on only 30-40 degrees I think they have shrunk generally too. I think the material on the outside of the pockets should be sewn and not glued. Shame I cant sew, so I cant wear them now. There is nothing else to buy with a warm lining for winter walking even now we are in April.
I purchased a third pair of these on the basis of satisfaction with first two and despite a hike in the price. Imagine my disappointment having shelled out £103.95 to find that the 14 regular that fitted me perfectly is now more
an inch shorter in the leg and an inch narrower on the hips. The 'new' length is unacceptable for me. I am very cross that the cut has been skimped, the price has been increased and on top of that Rohan charge for, postage unlike most competitors. This will be my last Rohan purchase for a long time methinks!
I purchased summit trousers last year but hardly worn, as with all rohan seams that are glued I found that today the pocket has come away. this is the second pair I will be taking back. My gr explorers took 2 pairs back. I like rohan and in general quality good but seems like they have gone off the rails in that department. in the last year we have taken back numerous pairs of pants, fleece top zip broken. these are not cheap items and I class myself as easy going and not one to complain but enough is enough. summits are £100 and not to have worn them very much as working so only wear at weekends and only in cold weather prob about 2 weeks wear in total is ridiculous. follow all washing instructions 30 degree wash and no drier used. what can I do with these now we are in lockdown
These are excellent trousers, I have both colours. Really comfortable and very versatile, they are definitely great for the colder weather. They are water and wind resistant and considering I have had the first pair nearly 2 years very durable too. My husband has the men's version and wishes they were still available to purchase for him.
These are the worst winter trousers I've ever owned. They are definitely not wind resistant. Ive just walked across open fields in windy conditions and the wind went straight through the fabric. I'm not someone who usually feels the cold but I was extremely cold and uncomfortable in these trousers. They will require thermal leggings under them. I wouldn't recommend them at all.
Excellent trousers, my only comment is that the pocket now has a nearly vertical opening, in older trousers the pocket was nearly horizontal. The problem with the vertical opening is that things can fall out. A return to horizontal top opening for the pockets would be great.
I really love these trousers, great fit, stretchy, comfortable and have proven to be very durable and protective on the high fells where I use them for the colder months. My only small criticism is that the pockets are so tiny, I'm a petite 5"2 and can barely fit my hand in, nevermind anything useful while out mountaineering. I'm sure this could be rectified easily.
In addition, I'd quite to see a 'comparison' option on the Rohan website as it's not always easy to keep flicking back and forth to check out suitability of a garment for season, activity etc.
Excellent versatile comfortable trousers. Great for chilly damp weather.
How about a lighter colour please.
These are fantastic trousers, great fit, good material, useful for smart about town wear as well as on hills and in gales. Please don't change them except to offer more colours.
