Our Ridge Long Jacket is the longer length version of the Ridge Jacket and offers all the same great features, including the new P4Dry™ printing technology and our 2.5-layer Barricade™ waterproof system. It’s ultra high-wicking, lightweight and completely waterproof.
Read more…With our tried and tested 2.5-layer Barricade™ waterproof technology, the Ridge Long Jacket offers excellent protection from the wind and rain in a lightweight and flexible jacket that’s ideal for year-round cover.
Our 2.5-layer Barricade™ technology works by bonding the water repellent face fabric and the waterproof-breathable membrane together. A print is applied to the inside face of the fabric to protect the waterproof membrane, and this time we’ve introduced a new P4Dry™ printing technology.
Sustainably created from used coffee grounds, P4Dry™ provides excellent moisture management properties by quickly transferring moisture to the surface of the bonded fabric to be released into the air. This results in a drier feeling that removes that clammy sensation you can sometimes get with waterproof shells, as well as improving odour control.
This odour and moisture control technology means you’ll be washing your Ridge Jacket less and prolonging the life of your shell too.
Our Ridge Long Jacket comes in at 87cm in the medium size for improved coverage and protection. It has a soft and flexible finish with a great drape and excellent freedom of movement so it feels just as comfortable layered with a mid-layer or without, making it ideal for year round protection for country ramblers and coastal walkers.
All seams are completely taped and the front zipped closure is protected by a twin storm flap for extra protection from water ingress. The hem, hood, internal waistline and cuffs are all adjustable, and the hood has a stiff peak too.
There are two zipped security waterproof pockets at the waist, with one doubling as a Packpocket™ so you can fold the jacket into itself and leave it in your bag ready for when the heavens open.
Fabric:
100% polyester with polyurethane 2.5-layer Barricade™ technology, P4Dry™ print technology and Durable Water Repellency™
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
Our 2.5-layer Barricade™ with P4Dry™ print keeps jackets waterproof and breathable, while cutting down on weight.
It works by bonding together a water-repellent outer fabric and a breathable membrane. The P4Dry™ print is then applied directly to the inside of the fabric. This wicks moisture away and protects the membrane from abrasion.
The Barricade fabric has a Hydrostatic Head of 20,000mm and a Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate of 20,000g per metre square every 24 hours. These are measures of the amount of water the fabric can withstand and the amount of moisture that can pass through it.
Our DWR ™ finish is an advanced treatment which dramatically increases the water repellency of our fabrics. On its own, it offers a useful level of shower resistance; used in conjunction with our Barricade™ technology, it reduces the tendency of the face fabric to wet out and maximizes breathability.
Clever design is more often than not about what to take off rather than what to put on. It’s about giving one feature multiple functions. That’s why many of our garments feature a Packpocket™. This handy addition converts pockets into space-saving storage by compressing the garment into itself. You could use it as a travel pillow when it’s all packed down too.

This is my second review on the same jacket because I unwrapped the return parcel and stopped myself from sending this jacket back because although I was most disappointed with the jacket not having a lining I realised that a lining would make it heavier. So I have kept the jacket which is extremely lightweight and long enough to act as a good cover up in driving rain and as I bought the larger size it can easily be worn over a couple of warmer layers. I think there could be some improvement if the interior of the jacket were of a colour similar to the exterior of the jacket rather than a white/grey colour. Never-the-less it has a valid place in my all-weather Rohan wardrobe and 5 stars rating which might balance up my previous hasty review.
See above for review.
