A simple design with a high specification technical fabric for an ultra-lightweight jacket that performs excellently as a warm and supremely comfortable mid-layer.
Read more…We’ve been using Microgrid fabric since the turn of the century, approaching half a million sales since its launch. Now with added stretch, for greater freedom of movement.
Designed using advanced Microgrid fleece, a soft, brushed polyester fabric which uses a sophisticated ‘needle-out’ knitting technique to create a grid pattern on the surface of the fabric. These grids give the jacket an attractive textured appearance whilst enabling the fabric to trap air - this is the key to the jacket’s surprisingly high levels of warmth while still remaining incredibly lightweight and packable.
It’s also breathable and naturally high wicking, allowing the garment to management moisture, keeping you cool and comfortable with all the same warmth as a much heavier, ordinary fleece.
This remarkable material maximises the properties of its stretch for supreme comfort, fit and freedom of movement without restriction. The sleeve cuffs also have thumbholes, which provide additional warmth, comfort and protection.
It features three zipped pockets for security of valuables, one of which doubles up as a Packpocket for convenient storage. With mesh lining that can also double as a vent when the pocket is left open, perfect for active outdoor enthusiasts. Layer up under a waterproof or windproof outer layer or perfect on its own as a fleece jacket.
Fabric:
100% Polyester
We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.
Clever design is more often than not about what to take off rather than what to put on. It’s about giving one feature multiple functions. That’s why many of our garments feature a Packpocket™. This handy addition converts pockets into space-saving storage by compressing the garment into itself. You could use it as a travel pillow when it’s all packed down too.
Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.

As always a super product, easy to order, wear and looks and feels good
Just bought the Cumbria Blue, have to agree with previous reviews it feels lighter material than my older 4 Rohan fleeces but I still love this top. It warm, wind proof, I don’t get that sweaty damp feel you do with other makes. Its a fleece not a fashion statement but I think a smart piece for walking the fells in Cumbria, holidays and everyday wear. I am a 14 and this fits like a dream. Thank you Rohan.

The chalk green is a lovely colour and the fit is perfect.
I have had my jacket for yrs and love it.It is now a bit worn and want a new one.
I’m afraid the colours are not to my taste in fact they are a bit old ladyish ( I am one but don’t want t to look it)
Please can we have a navy or
black in the ladies sizes.
Really pleased with the lovely warm red colour and fit of this microgrid jacket. I'm a size10/12 and the small fits me perfectly, it is slightly bigger than my other older microgrid jackets which I think is better. Looking forward to wearing it.
Having reviewed my stock of mid-weight layers I found all were zip necks. This jacket will be much more flexible in use - open it up when needed - easier to take off - and has the bonus of spacious zipped pockets. I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs outdoors in our variable winter weather, but I suspect I'll be using it for many more occasions. The light weight is advantage for me and the fit is good, except for the thumb loops because the sleeves aren't long enough for their use.
I have 4 of these jackets and am disappointed with the quality of the fabric and the fit. The fabric is certainly lighter but that’s not a benefit, it impacts the fit. I loved the way the previous fabric gave a bit of a feminine shaping to the jacket, it held things in place. Medium always fits me in this jacket but this time it looks baggy and a bit ‘old laddish’ in the middle. Please, please revert back to the previous fabric, this just loses it shape as you wear it.. waited a long time for navy to reappear in the jacket, just so disappointed..
excellent top, I couldn't even count how many of these I have bought over the years
Love the Teal colour. Fits well (size medium i am standard 14) Very useful as a extra layer on frosty cold mornings or as a light jacket during the day. I haven’t had thus Rohan garment before so am enjoying the lightness of the fabric. Will be buying another in Navy its going to be a significant part of my wardrobe this year.
Colour is a bit darker than pictures suggest.
The new fabric looks and feels cheap compared to the original.
The fit is weird and rather baggy and ugly at the back compared with the nice bum hugging shape on my previous dark blue jacket.
I only kept this item because I wanted some colour in my life in these miserable times
Love this colour .
Am a big fan of the microrib and find them so versatile : warm enough for dog walking, travelling and lounge wear . Yet smart enough for work .
Think the price point is rather high given recent price hike
In terms of cost per wear probably irons it out.
