Our designers incorporated an internal pocket into the hat for the wearer to carry small essential items needed on an expedition trip such as cash, card etc. This pocket also doubles up as a Packpocket, perfect for travel and easy stowage.
UPF 40+ Sun Protection Note
All of our garments are tested for their Ultraviolet Protection Factor, and those that achieve a rating of UPF40+ are noted as protection against UV. Garments awarded a 40+ UPF block 97.5% of UV radiation rating, so for every 40 units of radiation, 39 are blocked, and 1 contact the skin.
Insect Shield® Note
Insect Shield® technology converts clothing into convenient, comfortable and effective protection against biting insects. Each Insect Shield® labelled garment is treated with Permethrin, an invisible an odourless ingredient which protects against insects such as mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers and midges. The treatment is so tightly bonded to the fabric fibres that it retains effectiveness through the expected life of the product – well beyond the limits of most fabric finishes.

Very pleased with my Pioneer hat. Took it to Australia on a visit to see my son in March 2022 and found it to give excellent protection against the sun. Can be worn several ways according to the sun's severity. Easy to carry and lightweight and packs into a pocket inside the hat. Another little gem from Rohan.
