Offering the same excellent fit and comfort our classic Roamers have always had, but with just a few thoughtful changes and a cleaner look makes these exceptional walking trousers even better.
Read more…Made with our MultiFlex Light two way stretch fabric, our Roamers are still our most comfortable walking trousers.
They’re made from the same sophisticated blend of polyamide and elastane making them tough, stretchy, wind-resistant and light. They’ve also got Dynamic Moisture Control™ for high-wicking breathability and an internal elasticated waist for unrivalled comfort.
As always, they’ve got a nice understated appearance, but now we’ve gone a step further by removing the knee seam and softening the edges of the pockets to give them a cleaner look and a more comfortable feel. They’ll go the distance on the toughest treks, whilst not looking or feeling out of place when you’re bobbing around town or enjoying a meal in a country pub.
We’ve also added thoughtful features that will enhance your comfort and keep them looking nicer for longer. We’ve adjusted the belt loops to fit wider belts, as well as the zipped security pocket hidden within the front pocket to make it easier to access. To keep your Roamers looking their best, we’ve added anti-scuff tape to the hem to reduce wear and tear on tough treks.
Our Roamers are still the same comfortable and versatile walking trousers you know and love. They’re still perfect for year-round comfort. If you’re walking in Britain from spring through to autumn, you’d be hard pressed to find a better choice. And, if you’re wearing them in the high summer, you’ll be pleased to know they still offer UPF 40+ Sun Protection*.
*A Note on Sun Protection
All Rohan garments carrying our sun protection icon have been tested in accordance with recognised international standards for ultraviolet radiation protection. Garments are awarded a rating of UPF 40+. Protection may be significantly reduced with extended wear or if the garment is stretched or wet. Any associated UV risks will vary according to individual skin type or medical history.

We were the original lightweight revolutionaries. Back in the 1970’s we realised that cutting weight without losing performance meant that you can take less and do more. Everything we make is engineered to achieve this.
Low pack size is a benefit whether you’re packing for a day’s walking or for the trip of a lifetime. We continually scrutinise fabric specification and garment construction to minimise the packed size of our clothing. The actual pack size is tested and listed.
All Rohan clothing is designed to be very fast drying – as much a benefit for unexpected downpours as anything else. It’s easy to wash and often needs no ironing. Almost all garments will dry overnight, meaning you can take less with you. We test every item and list its drying time.

Losing the odd bit or bob when you’re close to home is rarely an issue, but losing car hire keys, passport, phone or wallet becomes more important than ever in a far off land. That’s why lots of thought goes into safer pockets – deeper, zipped and hidden.
DMC™ is a wicking treatment that rapidly spreads the moisture our bodies create across the surface area of a garment. This can be achieved through the technical construction of the garment or by a performance coating and ensures that the garment dries more quickly, encourages evaporative heat loss and helps you stay cooler and more comfortable for longer.

Very pleased with the new revised Roamers, a big improvement on the original ones in their fit. Agree with a previous reviewer, some narrow leg trousers from Rohan would be even better.
As anticipated these fit true to size for me and I love the colour and updated shape. I am still wearing Rohan trousers from 12+ years ago and the quality maintains.
I only buy Rohan trousers and have quite a few in different colours.
Very successful and very comfortable to wear
Easy to wash and dry quickly
Well made and worth every penny
I am size 18 and I usually buy long
I have now purchased three pairs of Roamers, grey, ash brown and dark navy. They are very comfortable having a stretch in the material, easy to wash and very quick drying. They are great for holidays as they can be use for sightseeing, walking/hiking and they can be dressed up for an evening outing. I am not keen on the small leg pocket, I never use it, I suppose it could be used for a credit card or travel ticket. Unlike a previous review I find the leg is slim enough for me.
Great trousers, not just for walking, I have many pairs and wear them all the time, lightweight, very comfortable and smart enough for the office
I am a 12 long, I find them wide in the leg (Bags are slim leg) and always take them in by about 2 cm on the inside leg seam, very easy to do on a sewing machine
Please Rohan, can you make a slim leg version of the Roamers?
Great value with the offer
Great for hiking, travelling or around town. The stretch makes them comfortable. Easy to wash and dry so fewer clothes to pack for extended trips. Handy zipped pockets.Bought my first pair over a year ago. I now have these in 3 colours. Highly recommended.
A comfortable fit and really nice material. My only problem is that Rohan's short leg length is 29". My leg length is 27" and I do not have a means of altering the length. Therefore I have the added expense of paying to have the trousers shortened.
I’m pleased you haven’t changed the design recently, as they’re perfect. The third pair in my wardrobe alongside dark blue and light grey/blue that I’ve had for several years but still look as good as news. So light, comfortable and hard wearing, smart enough for smart/casual, robust enough for long walks with the dog or working in the garden. The ash brown is also a very versatile colour - more dark taupe than brown - and I’ve already been complimented on them worn with an old (but still perfect) long Malay jacket and pink top. They are pricey, but worth it as they are so hard wearing, and I was lucky enough to pick these up in the sale.
Very comfortable with” elastic “ part waist band ,popper on front with a zip
mid rise design trousers
Wash very well
Fit for purpose
A little bit long for me as I am inside leg 30 but easy to turn up either by hand / machine or doing nothing just turning under
Great fit, and excellent features for strolling in wild places and for work in fact - can be dressed up easily.
I much prefer the revised styling - consistent high quality. Regular 10 is a great fit for someone who like me is 10/12 in other brands (which I rarely bother with)!
Excellent easy wear trousers
Simple, comfy for walking or leisure. I would say buy a 10 uf you normally wear size 12.
Not to heavy, not too lightweight. Good compromise between tailored fit and freedom of movement. Rugged material but good look and feel. Good selection of pockets. Come down off the hills, change your boots for shoes and your ready for smart casual afternoon tea!
I have bought Roamer trousers for a few years now. I like the short length and find they are the only trousers on the market that actually fit me!
I wear them for both hiking and leisure, they are very versatile. I agree the design and material seems different in the last pair I bought but I am still very satisfied with them. They dry quite quickly after washing and are light, so very good for taking on walking and outdoor holidays. Will be buying again.
I have had several pairs of Roamers over the years and bought 2 more pairs recently. I notice that the waistband is not as firm as before and tends to curl over which is not a good look. Also, previously there was a diagonal strip across the knee which, presumably, protected the area from bagging. The new version does not have this. I am size 18 but in Roamers I take a 14 Short but I'm not going to complain about that!!
I have three pairs of Roamers- they are fantastic for travel, trekking and leisure. They have a good fit and miraculously accommodate any extra pounds gained on holiday. However, I cannot but agree with the review left by 'Quality' earlier in June: after constant wear, the fabric is prone to pilling in between the inner thighs. You might say this problem is inevitable due to friction, but this hasn't happened to my trusted pair of old Trailblazers, which have seen a fair bit of the world and still look as pristine as when I first bought them years and years ago.
Once you sort out the problem with the fabric, I know several ladies and myself would kill for a pair of white Roamers and white Roamers shorts!
I have worn these trousers for as long as they have been for sale and always found them really good quality and fit. My last pair have not been the same robust quality in respect of the fabric? I had my latest pair for a few weeks before the front of the legs have all bobbled and look old and scruffy. This never used to happen to this extent. The fabric has gone thinner over the years too and I feel disappointed with my lovely trousers that I have always worn. For the price I think they need to rethink the fabric durability as usually they keep looking good for a long time.
I was worried the new design would be too tight over the hips like most of the other trousers I ever try on, but the fit is good - a little bit trimmer but still room for the hips and to be able to sit comfortably without the back pulling down. At last the seam has gone from half way down the leg - it defined them too much as "walking trousers" and the great thing about Rohan Roamers trousers is they are so comfortable I want to wear them for work as well as walking. Given the leg pocket is pretty useless anyway, this could be omitted as well and there would be no zips or seams anywhere visible. I wear 12 Short.
Today I went to purchase some new roamer trousers and roamer shorts, I already have 4 pairs of roamer trousers and 1 pair of shorts. I noted that they have been updated and am disappointed to find that you can no longer fit a mobile phone in the zipped thigh pocket and the shorts no longer have a zipped back pocket. My phone is small only 5.5 inches long. I shall definitely not be purchasing these anymore, which is very disappointing.
Personally, I really love the changes, they are far less flappy. I wear them walking, around the house and in town. My new favourite trousers.
I bought these for my wife to replace the many pairs of Striders she has worn over the years. She always had size 8 regular. However these new size 8 regular Roamers are of a lighter thinner material but the leg length is now longer. I have need to send them back to be replaced with size 8 short. The size 8 remains a good fit.
I have worn Roamers for over 10 years and have several pairs in various colours. The design has had minor changes over the years but the trousers remained essentially the same blend of style and functionality. However, I was dispappointed to find that the latest version no longer have the useful zipped security pockets. The pockets are still there but they are they are too small to be of any use - the inner one will only accommodate a single credit card. On the older styles, both pockets could be used for a phone or slim purse. This is no longer the case. I will therefore be returning the trousers.
This is my 6th pair of Roamers over 10 years or so. I have lost weight in lockdown and this is my treat for next summer! The quality and fit are still the same, excellent, and the price for the Navy was reduced, and will be a good colour for summer.I love the waist as it is high and always comfortable.with the elastic inside. I got a 14S for a change as I am 5ft 7ins and always have to turn up Rohan trousers. The length was good and I can take advantage of the anti scuff tape at last!
I’ve been buying Rohan Roamers for years. They are the most comfortable and versatile trousers with excellent fit for me. The new design still meets this description but a number of the design tweaks seem to have been introduced to cut the costs of manufacture. Gone are the smart top stitched seams, gone is the interesting pocket shape, gone is the “hidden” pocket - it’s now visible and not as accessible, gone is the curved stitching of the leg pocket along with the good quality metal zip pull tab. The replacement black rubbery one is very obvious and looks cheap. The trousers just look very ordinary now.
What have you done to my favourite trousers. The only thing I like about the new version is the bigger belt loops.
The tiny secret pocket isn't even worth being there, and the same for the side leg pocket.
